    So...is it worth it?

    Greetings,

Recently returned (like, just today!) And I'm having some...issues?

I've always felt bleh about attempting to catch up with the current endgame stuff, ever since I fell behind.

The same still stands...Thing is, the chance of having a fresh start at 60 appealed greatly to me, so I want to get back into things.

Question is, will doing the current endgame be necessary for things beyond the 50 cap? Would it be recommended?

Personally...I'd rather just get my Pld/Whm/Brd capped and gear them with their counterparts, hence why I'm wondering (hoping) that doing all of the current stuff isn't necessary and that Poetic stuff will be good enough for 50-60.

Hate to be a pain, but I'd just like to know. Thanks for taking the time to answer!

When people level in the future, they will be hitting Heavensward wearing quest greens (and the blue job set, probably). Those items are ilvl 50ish at best. Poetics is 120, 130 if upgraded.

If Poetics is going to be the minimum required in Heavensward, SE is facing a LOT of rage from people stuck slowly grinding old content for weeks just to ENTER the expansion without dying because a critter sneezed in the other end of the zone.

    Well, I should ask.

Is the current endgame going to be necessary in any way whatsoever? Or will I be fine just getting my main quests done and doing the more casual stuff, like poetics.

From what I've read the main job missions should pick up from where they left off so that shouldn't be a problem but all Heavensward stuff you'll need to be up to date in main story

My very best guess is that most of what we're wearing, the things we get etc. will be rendered essentially worthless a few hours into the expansion. What MATTERS is that you have fun playing, or maybe I'm just old-school that way.

This probably depends on what you define as "endgame."

I feel we can safely assume it won't require anything from the Coil of Bahamut or a completed zodiac weapon.

But if it makes you continue on with the "Seventh Astral Era" story quests, some of them do require an average item level higher than you would naturally obtain by the time you hit 50. Currently the last main story quest fight requires a minimum average item level of 90. Because of that, you would need to do some of either the six highest level dungeons, Syrcus Tower / the World of Darkness, or buy soldiery equipment to finish it.

    Extreme Primals for weapons.

    Crystal Tower for armor.

Uncapped Tomes for both weapons and armor

TOMES IN GENERAL for both weapons and armor

The Hunt for upgrading tome gear.

PvP, if thats your thing, until you get some real pve gear for both weapons and armor.

Crafted gear with superb melds. Many times crafted gear with top notch melds is better until you get Final Coil stuff.

Do what a handful of players do, pay mercs to run your laziness through content.

With your current attitude and how you dont even want to consider doing anything above, if you ever do get caught up, you aren't going to stay up-to-date at all.

You might as well edit your OP as "im looking for free hand out with Zero Effort."

You mean stuff like clearing Coil in order to progress into HW or the Alexander raid?
The answer is, no, you do not need to do those things. Yoshida mentioned it in one of his interviews.

As far as I know so as long as you are caught up with the main storyline, you should have no problems in enjoying HW in all of its entirety.

True, true. That probably is the best advice XD

Ahh, I was thinking Sycrus/WoD (Too terrified to enter in those alone lol) and Coil. The highest dungeons I enjoy running, soooo...

Thanks, glad it looks like I won't need to run super catch up.

@Kaedrian No, I did not mean it like that at all.

I was merely worried that I'd need to run some horrendous game of catch up. I don't mind working for my stuff, but if there isn't a point in trying to run Coil and the like, I'd rather not force myself into it. Much rather start anew with whatever HW introduces than scramble to find people to start new with with the current stuff.

    No need to be rude.

Catching up is extremely easy, takes about one week if you play super duper casuals and maybe run 3 dungeons or less every night. You could catch up on three days weekend binge if you play 6 hours a day or more. Depend on your server clusters though. If you are in American servers, expect longer time to catch up since most dungeons there takes between 5-25 minutes longer depends if you get a group of newbies, or a bunch of trolls in the raid. If you have solid free company members that can take you on a pre made party, then you are set for this.
