If people don't want to do specific content, you should make this content more fun, not try to force them to do it. Especially when they get no insight in the system behind it and begin to feel mocked. Most people don't play that much as your and some others do. Most FF14 players don't rush through the content. Making it harder for the 24/7 players just means, that it becomes annoying for the 4/5 and insane for the 2/3 players.
Really not sure why you believe that nearly every player in the game can't seem to put in several hours a week. I'd honestly venture to say that the 4/5 of the active player populous puts in a minimum of 10hrs a week. When you play an MMORPG, you should know it's not a pick up and play at your leisure for progression genre. Well, it can be, like this game can be, but most players don't view minimal progression as progression. If you do intend to play that way, they should know that they're not going to get far before they can put in many hours of active play time. If people actually feel mocked for making an active decision to play a game of a genre built specifically around the grind and time requirement, I really believe they're just mocking themselves, not that the game/devs/genre are mocking them LOL. It's like watching that crazy person on the street yell at and ridicule himself while staring at a wall. It's like you're stating that 4/5 of the player base don't even realize where they are and that they're playing an MMORPG (though there is probably some truth to that).

The genre is not built around the idea of you being able to get everything in a day/week/month, because if it were, not many people would stick around before they hop ship. I'm sure you'll argue that "people leave anyway", and that's true... it's the nature of the genre. You won't keep everyone no matter what you do. A rather significant portion of the player base come and go, that's 100% normal. The thing that keeps the long term fans though are content updates, publicity (e.g. Live Letters, conventions, etc), and things to strive for (i.e. long term goals in a game designed to keep the target audience around for years).

That's how MMOs stay "fresh" instead of becoming stale at end-game.

MMO's stay fresh with new content. Grind just stretches this, if there is not enough new or long lasting content. For grind content, developer could just let the player roll a dice and they have to reach a million to get item x. You even have RNG in it. People with bad luck may have to throw the dice 500.000 times, people with luck only 200.000 times. Voila. Grind and RNG. Yay!

I think it's fine and should remain as it is. Game devs generally struggle to balance "everyone can have everything" with "we want you to feel like this is as special as it actually is". Nobody needs to enter the MGS to progress so it's the best place to emphasise the latter. It's exciting when devs implement something so rare that one can be recognised from the thousands, but for that to be possible you need to come to terms with the fact that you may never be "the one" yourself.

It need not be like real life, but it should draw from the aspect that your millionth attempt is just as likely as your first. It takes so little time to follow weekly that it would be a stretch to consider it a cheap grind. Your participation bonus pays higher than your ticket price which is to say "You didn't get any numbers? At least it's not a sink."

I don't even think they should give out more than 1 ticket per char to preserve that special element. Even if weeks go by without a winner.

Oh yeah, of course, because Gold Saucer is an optional place, you should really make it "special" so only a few player enjoy it and the rest not. Glorious idea...

Real life lottery is roughly a 1 in a billion chance to win so being able to buy multiple tickets is practically just giving you the illusion of better odds when compared to 1 ticket with a 1:10000 chance to win. I don't think it should be like real life at all.

Well yes. It's the kind of idea that they can't afford to do in mandatory places. How is that hard to get? If it had to go somewhere, where would you put it?

Loaded statement on your part. Go make a poll. Ask how many people came to FF (or 99% of MMOs) expecting instant gratification.

It's a shortcut that you're not intended to get but CAN get. You're being robbed of nothing. Put the entitlement issues aside and allow the few to understand their insane luck.

The GC and TT are fan services to people who wanted to see the side elements of VII and VIII expanded to MMO form. If you're not getting the fun you wanted out of it, it's okay to feel disheartened. Just as long as you realise you're getting disheartened over quicker access to novelties. QUICKER access.
