I can't believe how prevalent the matchmaking problem still is for early dungeons. I just got out of a mercy kick from a doomed Dzamael Darkhold dungeon run. At first we start and we have a new healer, which is ok since she seems adequately prepared for the dungeon and we have two well geared people in our group besides me on my lv46 BLM. The tank immediately goes offline once the message that someone is new to the duty pops up. We can't even kick for 5 min so we're stuck waiting in order to get ready for the real wait for a tank (admittedly we could have cleared mobs since Dzamael can practically be one-manned in the first part.
After we kick the offline tank we're genuinely surprised at how fast we get a tank once queuing up. That is until I notice that he only has 2331 health despite being at least level 47 (they're 48). Not only is this tank wearing Str/Dex gear instead of actual tank gear, but a good portion of it is lv35 and he's missing his necklace slot and rings. In addition to the fact that none of it is HQ or Aetherial, he's even wearing 2 INT/MND pieces. To top it all off, he's a gladiator, which means no Shield Oath.
I immediately questioned him about it, and was met with fierce denial that he needed to get the Paladin job class. He started to use all caps in his writing and it was then that I initiated a kick to get him out of the group. Unfortunately, 2 min later he's once again put into our group. He gets kicked again, only to once again join our group even faster. At this point we've expended all of our kicks for the dungeon and can no longer push him out of the dungeon. Abandon Duty gets rejected and we argue back and forth during mob pulls about why he needs to get his job class.
First boss, I hold aggro the entire fight, he makes no attempt whatsoever to taunt the boss off of me, but we hold through since it's a cakewalk and we're doing massive amounts of damage. At this point it becomes clear that however he reached his current level it definitely wasn't through tanking. The very first pull after the boss, the healer dies, and I immediately realize he isn't even using Flash to keep aoe aggro and instead blames the healer and me for not sleeping the enemies.
I berate him for not using flash and not knowing how to tank at this point in the game, and at that point I'm kicked from the instance. I feel bad mostly for the healer, but hopefully she and the dragoon in the party left before the party got the other member. After I was out I looked up their character on the site and realized that gladiator is indeed their first character, but surprisingly they have 4 Disciples of the Hand at level 50 and the rest very close to maxing out. The only question lingering in my mind is how in the world a level 50 goldsmith doesn't have jewelry on it's character. So here's a complete list of the gear they were wearing so you can see what I mean by massively under prepared.
Blunt Goblin Longsword
Mythril Circlet (Spinel)
Piesteskin Harness
Boarskin Ringbands
Piesteskin Hunting Belt
Boarskin Breeches
Cobalt-plated Jackboots
Bull Hoplon
Sunstone Earrings
Goatskin Wristbands
This totals out to 2331 hp and 220 defense which to put it into perspective for you, my lvl 46 BLM has 208 defense and 2195 hp. He might as well be a bad 3rd dps. Unfortunately this all could have been avoided if it wasn't so easy to join a group
