In almost all the main story line promotions, in nearly every trailer the game has ever had. the main character has been a Hyur, while the cat person has by and far been relegated to token bit character, or exotic flavor stand by. Y'shtola of the main scenario , G'raha Tia of the Crystal Tower side story, and Nashu of the Hildibrand story line, are some of the most important cat people in Erozea i can think of. One could add F'lhaminn but her past actions leave much to be desired, fame and infamy go hand in hand(see Golden Sacrifices FFXIV 1.0).
Wouldn't that make Hellsguard Female Roegadyn the most rarest race/sex combination in the game? Considering the few players that play female Roe goes Sea Wolf, what i've seen.
Yay, i'm a special unicorn (Roecorn) which is kinda sad really ヽ(;▽;)ノ
I'm surprised by the number of Elezen. I don't see them that often, especially never as tanks.

More like blame SE for all the miqote because ALL of the vanity gear is "cute" stuff
If I didn't have the option to play as a catboy then............ who knows, I'd probably would have gone with male Elezen? Or maybe not play at all.
Honestly it's one of the reasons I didn't care about XI; catgirls are nice and all but come ON Squeenix, what about the catboys?
Gosh.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Your logic is funny. There's so many people that think just like you, so by that logic of "in a fantasy world humans/elves are cliché" too many people tends to choose the cat people. And then cat people right now is the pure cliché while any other race = master race. I kinda like the cat people but there's so much that you can't even bother to try and make a unique one. That doesn't happen only on FFXIV. On every game people assume what's "boring" and what's not, then they pick "what's not" and what's supposed to be the boring thing end up turning into the unique one.
Plus don't be rude saying what's ugly and what's not. Beauty is pure subjective.
As a 3D art enthusiast I'm pretty critical of animation and visual effects. I have to say it's the Race's walk/run animations that we are all subconsciously drawn to and plays a large factor
(After all, in this game we spend thousands of hours staring at the backside of the same toon running everywhere)
The cat race has an excellent run/walk animation loop that moves forward along the ground-plane at a speed that looks physically accurate. Full hip and shoulder rotation that is legit.
Elezen animation on the other hand.. terrible open world interactive animation, (looks better in cutscene tho). Their stride has no swing in the hips and shoulders (or at least it isn't convincing), it doesn't match the speed that they move along the groundplane.. they just lack appearance of forward momentum. (talkin about males, i haven't Q-Q'd female yet)
Au Rau looks good and I'm excited! In the vids we see them running. They have a great stride like miqoute (hips/shoulders convincingly controlling leg stride/arm swing, shifting body weight with each step etc etc), wish they'd copy it over to elezen (seeiing as elezen/aurau share similar physical properties; height and liimb proportions)

More like, a lot of people don't want to play as a human and miqote is the closest thing to a not-human in this game.
