In my opinion, Roes have the best looking females, but as I'm more into mages, I don't play one as my main. They are obviously very strong women who look best as Dragoon, Warrior, Paladin or Ninja. I can't see them as Healer or Black Mage, so I decided to play a fine-boned character (Midlander). That's just in my head, so I can easily see why people play FemRoe-mages.
I like Miqo'tes as well, but I feel comfier when playing a "boring" human.![]()

What is good for me leave to ME,ok? Nice
My point is, way to many cat-girl i see in recent times and this is boring, not playing same race as you are in RL.....hm, this is not even human, it's Hyur!!
So, as you suggest, i can't say same about Hyurs or Elezen, i dont see them, rarely, too much Cat-girls, not even cat-boys, seriously many cat-girls players must find girlfriend and start express some roles not making playboy girls wearing sexy clothes dont even say what for..., this is mmoRPG, Massive Multiplayer Online ROLE-PLAYING Game. You know what tham mean?? I know and many obviously not....may i say this is propably not game for them??
And dont say they play roles....i dont think that most (cause some are RL girl, maybe) BOYs who made that characters whant to be them or look the same, they made them for only one purpose and god know what![]()

This guy gets it. I'd honestly much rather play a Duskwight Elezen like I did in 1.0, but the walk/run animations just killed them for me. Cat males had the best walking & running animations and the best /sit, so I went with them.As a 3D art enthusiast I'm pretty critical of animation and visual effects. I have to say it's the Race's walk/run animations that we are all subconsciously drawn to and plays a large factor
The cat race has an excellent run/walk animation loop that moves forward along the ground-plane at a speed that looks physically accurate.
Elezen animation on the other hand.. terrible open world interactive animation, (looks better in cutscene tho).
If I could make an attractive afro-centric Hyur, I'd be all over that. But every time I tried, I'd just end up with a brown colored caucasian or japanese looking guy. I'll probably join half the people currently playing and switch to Au Ra when 3.0 drops.
Miqo'te are definitely the most appealing race in the game. The rest are boring in comparison except maybe Lalafell if "cuteness" is more your thing. Miqo'te have more character than other races with their stance, the "arthritis" hands, the jump poses are very cat-like... not to mention their walk/run animations are very fluid while the rest of the races are stiff in comparison.
Luckily im stubborn when it comes to Elven sword'n'board types so I was able to avoid them. Otherwise id be a Miqo'te too. Also I hate being the smallest of the "tall" races, hate jumping on Miqo'te bandwagon, and they dont look right as casters to me. Au Ra seem to be very well done as well from what I saw in the vids, so ill be giving them a try but im on the fence with that.

I chose a Miqo'te because I couldn't find an Elezen hairstyle I liked. I usually play elves since they have an attunement with nature and the forest. Most of my past characters have been elven. But since I'm a graphic artist, I get stuck on things like hair and animations. If I don't like the hair or their animation looks awkward to me, I won't play that character.
So I tried Miqo'te. I love my hairstyle, it moves when needed and doesn't clip on armor. The animations are fluid. The tail is bit odd, like it was placed there at the last minute, but it's not a deal breaker. And being a Miqo'te fits since I named her after my cat, Hexadecimal.
I have to agree with many people in this thread and there is no hiding it and SE is truly to blame for this.
The miqo'te were made with much more effort than the other races when you look at their animations and pose. They feel natural and they feel down to Earth. Their anatomy is not skewed and the customization options are great despite people using mostly only 2 of them as the other 2 are not that good looking.
I personally play miqo'te because I wanted to play a young cheerful male animal traits. All other races did not have this option and if they had it, it looks horrible.
Lalafell are too small and the fact that I can't see the details on my armor annoys me greatly. If they were 25% bigger, I would consider it.
Hyur have some good looking faces but their neutral expression look like soulless dolls with no personality and the pose and walk cycles make me cringe with disdain as they are way too stiff. I want a confident looking character or at least one with personality and Hyur is by far the worst on that point.
Elezen have a very young and cute face option but... Place that baby face on their body and what do you get? A monster. To make that perfect face work, they would need to allow different body types or else it'll never work. Not everyone wants to play an ostrich. Make use of Alphinaut's body build (which makes sense for once) and I'll change to elezen in an instant.
Roegadyn are okay for the most part but a bulky character is just not my type. Still, despite that and despite having good face options, I still don't like their walk cycle. They look like clumsy giants instead of powerful and proud beings. Their only strong points is taken away by once again, animation and bad execution. Females are perfect though.
Highlander is not my type either but I have to admit that they are the best looking characters in the game aside from miqo'te. Hands down. The females look great and I don't think their animation ever bothered me. I just have nothing bad to say about them.

I play a Miqo'te because I LIKE the race. I didn't want to play a boring Human, but Lalafells are too... puntable, and I toyed with an Elezen a bit because I like Elf type races as well, but they are too... disproportionate in my opinion. The only other race I seriously considered was a Roegadyn (in fact, I have a Roe alt). But Mio'te was the one that appealed to me most, and even after playing around with the other races I didn't find one I liked better. It has nothing to do with visual effects, weird cat girl fetishes, or whatever, I simply liked it the best. My go-to races in tabletop and LARP (given the option) are cat-people or Elves, so seeing as the Elezen look weird to me, I went Miqo'te. Everyone has their preference, and it's not our fault you chose wrong
Honestly, I don't know why people keep whining about it anyway. It's not like having an over-population of Miqo'te effects your gameplay in anyway.
Lady highlander animations are fantastic. They move well, they look good in just about anything, and most importantly, they emote like an overacting drama student. They are the best kind of Hyur, hands down.
I feel we where hurt the most by the loss of 1.0's momentum animations.
Back then, you could really see the weight being adjusted when you made a sharp turn. Now it just kinda look mechanical and a little cheap.
