Chocobo Racing & Weather effects unequal?

So I myself have noticed, as well as some other people that the weather effects on chocobos seem to be unequal. Rain seems to have a stronger effect on fair weather birds than sunshine/heat does on foul weather birds.

Has anyone else observed this and is this intentional or a bug?

Can't tell if it is a bug, fail design or just a mistake they made and have not fixed yet, but yes. A foul chocobo is way better than a fair chocobo, because, while the fair chocobo may be faster in sunshine, all his stats are CRUSHED by rain. You don't see much of a difference at foul chocobos, they are not really better when it is raining, but they are also not worse, when the sun shines.

Thanks for confirming what I had been seeing, for a while I was thinking that I had gone crazy, but as is, like you said, foul chocobos are seriously better overall.

My first bird had foul weather and just was unstoppable. I didn't even know weather changed throughout the track. I never noticed a difference in the bird's performance and wondered what the weather preference even did. Everyone kept saying my bird was a beast. Now I know why, since three birds after and all of them have burnt through much more than stamina even when its sunny. Racing's been a super long grind with out all those first places anymore. Foul preference ftw.

In my opinion the RNG associated with getting a foul chocobo is ridiculous. They need to let us have some control of how our birds turn out. The difference is extremely noticeable.

Bad weather also has an effect on foul weather chocobos from my observations. In addition, take note of what course you are racing on; each course has a different effect on your stamina and overall speed.
Without taking into account all stats, and all courses; it's hard to say for sure what the effects of weather are exactly.

For example, there are 3 kinds of bad and good weather. But why are they listed as both bad or good, and as 3 different types of good/bad?
Could it be that each individual good or bad weather also has (slightly?) different effects on chocobo racing, depending on your chocobos preference?

What effect have you seen on foul weather chocobos? Because all I have seen is a bird that runs normally no matter the weather, no major variance in times at all between races (All I race is sagolii until R180)

Slowing down when hitting large puddels of water (when it was raining hard), as well as losing stamina faster during that type of weather. I've only used a foul weather chocobo thus far tho, and nearly only on costa del sol. Havent had bad weather very often.
Especially during the first part of the race this seemed to effect me the most.

I noticed taking a large hit to stamina in the other 2 courses, and I figured that might be due to speed builds being more favorable on longer/wider/leveler courses.

I've had to restart chocobo racing tho since I didnt get the quest at rank 40, I'll see if I can pay more attention to specific type of weather this time around. I do think its an important difference which type of fair or bad weather is in effect, otherwise it wouldnt make much sense to list them seperately. But I could well be wrong.

Stamina loss isn't my major problem, I can manage that, its more just the absolute horrible slow down that birds get as soon as rain starts compared to no similiar slow down for foul birds in sunshine/heat.
