Holy Fuck what did I just read ? Im not the greatest fan of the quests either...but what ?Oh no not more main quests, they are one of the more boring aspects in this game imo. And they are required to do certain content. It's just so silly.
Especially if you like me have multiple level 50 characters and need to talk to npcs for 3 hours+ just to be able to do a dungeon/trial.
They should make the main quest optional cause some of us don't like running around like a sillyhead talking to everyone
My last two mmos I played was Tera and Wow Vanilla. I don't really remember how it worked in tera but I remember that doing the storyquests were pretty fun. In wow vanilla there was no main quest. If I wanted to do a dungeon I could just get a group and walk right into it. Thats why I'm kinda disappointed that in this game everything is locked behind quests. Every dungeon (although the quests to unlock level 50 dungeons are short so im okay with that) and mostly everything is locked behind quests. Want to use glamours? Need to be level 50 and do a quest. Want to unlock housing wards? Need to do a quest. I just think its a silly approach and I think that when we are in the appropiate level we should have them unlocked automatically.

I will do the quests because I think the content it unlocks is fun. But I'm still not happy with the way it works. It would be fine if every dungeon had their own quest to unlock them. Cause then I could do the main quest to gain levels, and that would be the only reason I would do it.
Like someone above you said, if you make another character it would be great the main quest was unlocked if you had already done it on another character.
apprantly my opinion isn't popular with most of you guys, but thats how I feel about the main quest

This is because:
1) A lot of players want a REASON for this to exist. Why are we suddenly able to summon a magical barber into our inn room? Why are we suddenly able to turn our heavy plate armor into a bikini? Explanations are important.
2) A lot of these need an explanation. Players respond better to an NPC telling them how it works rather than a pop-up tutorial screen. This isn't true for everyone, but it's true for a lot of people.
3) It's important to know where the heck this stuff is. The glamour quest is important because it not only tells you how to do it and why you're able to do it, but hooks you up with the NPC who can sell you the blank glamour prisms and dispellers.
TERA and WoW both did this too, with things like dungeons, attunements, and whenever they added a new feature. They just did it earlier OR you were already at the correct level when it was released. FFXIV staggers content so you're not overwhelmed, nor do you accidentally spend 20k gil on glamour prisms on gear you replace in 2 levels, leaving you with no money for teleports or repairs.
And it won't be unlocked account-wide because this game isn't designed for alts. It's designed with the idea that you'll have ONE character with all the classes. The only reason to have multiple characters is bank space, endgame content lockouts, experiencing the differences in the early quests based on city state, and gold saucer stuff. Raising a completely different character just to play a different class is actually hampering your main character's abilities since those crossclass skills are important.
So, in a way, this is self-imposed on your part since you're going against what the system was designed for.

what about battle of ishgard ? any clue?
I see your point, I just dont agree with it.
But I can't really agree with the last part. Ofc its made for alts, why would there be caps for poetics for instance? With more characters I can get more poetics.
Also for raids, you get locked out after beating a turn in a current raid . With more characters you can bet it again, with other players, or the same players.
So I see loads of reasons to get alts.
Other maybe less important reasons, you can be female/male, you can be a lot of different races. So I can't agree with you that this game isn't made for alts, then there wouldn't be lockouts imo

There are caps on poetics (just as the 2 tomes prior) to prevent players from gearing too quickly. It staggers the gearing up process. With more characters you get more poetics in the sense that you have more characters to grind it on, but you are still cap locked on each of those alts of yours and you aren't able to use those poetics for anyone else.I see your point, I just dont agree with it.

I hope the battle of ishgard will be like prae/cm but without cutscenes in between. Just at the start and at the end. Would be nice if out goal is to drive out the dravanians inside Ishgard (which will be in rubbles/burning) and fight that dragon in the end.
As to why we can enter afterwards: They're too busy repairing and wont accept anyone atm...until Heavansward
really?? the things some ppl whine about ffs *facepalms*Oh no not more main quests, they are one of the more boring aspects in this game imo. And they are required to do certain content. It's just so silly.
