This example is edited of course (with strong DOF) but it really adds subtle atmosphere. It's one of those things i've personally wanted for some time (that and better lighting)

I wouldn't mind it in some form of a photo mode for screenshot capturing (along with camera roll, tilt, etc, to get my character away from dead center of the screen), but otherwise you're just making your character out to be very nearsighted and blurring out landmark details the devs actually bothered to get to look decent in ARR.

Most of the maps are not particularly large enough where the DoF on fulltime would even have much of an aesthetic value either.

If we're discussing wanting actual eye-candy, per-object motion blur would be pretty dope, especially for MNKs.

I would hope to see Bloom and DoF in DX11. In Total War have the option to use older DX if your graphics card isn't up to par, DoF and shaders are the most significant improves with when using new dirctx

I'm looking forward to improved reflections as they teased a few months ago, the image based lighting at the moment is pretty sub par, i've tried toggling hdr on and off in different armorr, its nothing as good as it was in 1.0

edit: after spending some time looking at old 1.0 screenshots I've become very sad ._.

The image was done by someone else, no credit for me. Just using it as an example. For HDR you can use the poor mans solution with Sweetfx. I'm only using it for colour correction.

You can't say no to options, because that's what these graphical features are: optional.

Hoping they bring a 64bit client out. And better crossfire support.

really hoping 3.0 brings these features
Supposedly the new client is bundled with the expansion which means we have two options for a download/install depending which you buy. I have 2 GTX 680 so i'm with you there. The SLI/Crossfire just doesn't work optimally.

Those pictures are great, and I love how they look... but that's because they're stills and not moving images.

Until a game can detect where my eyes are looking and focus where I want it to, I say an absolute no to DoF.

Not sure what PS3 has to do with individual graphics option on a PC.

Also not sure where you got that from. They only said that Heavensward was still fully designed with PS3 support in mind. (I wouldn't mind if it was though, when PS3 is getting to be the excuse for features not being implemented time and time again - it is restricting development.)
