Someone please explain morale

I'm getting back into PVP now that I have a few more jobs at 50 and one thing that I noticed as soon as we began was a small argument on PVP gear in PVP environments.

The argument can be surmised as morale meaning nothing despite the indication that the average morale stat will raise your iLVL, which in turn boosts all of your natural stats, as any other gear set makes the difference/the difference is too small to make a difference.

Which seems like a silly comment to make as you can pretty much make that argument about any gear set with similar iLVL.

So.... What does the morale stat actually do?

i70 pieces give then +10 morale which makes them an i80 piece in pvp.

Then why would that person claim PVP specific gear was useless? In PVP?

I guess if you're already in Dreadwyrm or Augmented Ironworks, maybe.

Although, depending on your role, getting tank accessories is a GOOD thing, ideally the PvP one, since your secondary stats will be useful things like Crit, instead of generic +Parry or speed stats. Over 5k HP as a SCH? Yeah, an LB likely isn't gonna 1-shot you anymore.

morale has changed from its original purpose to a all-purpose buff to simply an ILVL buff. morale does work in frontlines, but it only will bring your ilvl up to the sync limit.

so for instance, the morale on the i70 pvp gear will only bring you to i80 in frontlines.

And yet i120 Demon Boots with crt/dtr are better when synced down to i80 than i70 pvp boots with crt/dtr raised up to i80 w/ morale (you end up with more crit). PvP Gear doesn't seem very useful.

You can do World of Darkness until you get the one drop you want with a weekly lockout or you can run Frontlines and buy as many pieces as you want in a week. I don't personally use PvP gear, but it can be best in slot for certain jobs.

probably because the i70 are DET major, while the i120 are crit major. if you scale the demon boots down to i80, they would be crit+19 det+9, the same as the divine war feet, while the warwolf feet would scale up to det13 crit 13. which makes the warwolf feet better than the demon feet

No, they have the exact same DTR and everything else. Only the Crit number goes higher (with Demon Boots).
