I'm having a really hard time seeing how this is in any way a problem.

With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.

it seems like a lot until you realized to actually be a GOOD crafter you need to level them all to 50. Then you start thanking your lucky stars that leves give as much as they do.
They already nerfed crafting leves once. I feel it's fine the way it is now (not that I had a problem with the way it was before the nerf).
They barely nerfed crafting leves, and some were buffed really. Mostly they were rebalanced to give nearly the same exp for HQ turn ins and more exp for NQ turn ins (HQ buff changed to double instead of triple exp).
In any case, like Kyuven said, it doesn't matter much if you can get CUL to 50 in an afternoon with somebody else giving you all the turn in items and never crafting a thing for yourself. To advance far with crafting you need all classes at 50, a lot of very expensive gear full of very expensive materia, and to acquire books and main hand tools without help (well you can get the first master book with MB bought items).

Um, OP....
a) it differs per crafting class. A lot of leves require items/mats that are very expensive, especially if you want HQ.
b) crafting the HQ items in the first place is NOT easy, unless you have a lot of cross-class skills and/or HQ mats to start with.
So sure, if you're rich and/or have several other crafting classes levelled, it may seem like a lot for little effort. But for those starting out, who cannot afford HQ and do not have the skills so make it, it is NOT a lot. Not all the leves are easy or cheap items.
I'm more surprised to see someone actually complain about NOT having a level grind. You'd think people wouldn't want to be burdened by a grind.

yeah i remember that, I think it was nerfed a few wks after the game release. I think someone posted a similar thing during beta phase about xp gained through leves is too high. Not sure if that thread is still here though.

With the expansion coming out making a change like this would be sort of a slap in the face for new players ;/. If anything only make a change for level 50 leves on.
I kind of like getting straight to the fun part... (also fewer barriers means less of a manipulated market). Though I do get the experience is the journey aspect, having played FFXI before things were made fast (appreciated the experience, but I don't think I have time for deleveling lol).
Lol, no . Leves are fine.
