Self sufficient crafter/gather leveling: what to gather lots of

Which items will I need to gather lots of on my way up to 50? For instance I know I needed tons of cotton, so I gathered tons of it while leveling up botanist.

Also, what items will I want to farm on combat classes so I can gather while leveling (diremite webs for example)? I already am into the 20s in all craft/gather classes, trying to plan for the later levels.

Shards, shards and more shards. Fleece, snurble tufts, the various skins for leather, boar, toad raptor, peiste.

Thanks...are there any guides out there to this sort of thing? Looked and couldnt really find anything, most crafting guides are either how to level single craft fast via leves or what to do at 50

I typically look for triple leves with big crystal rewards atm, those seem to be most beneficial

I'm sure there are, I just don't know of any. When I leveled up all my DoH classes I just went at the leve's that had the highest exp for my current level, and went for crafting HQ turn in items to max the exp. I stayed away from those leve's that you turn multiple items in. They do offer more exp, but they eat mats.

Note that the level ranges aren't perfectly accurate (for example 15-25 Alumen, you can gather alumen at 16, I'm just giving a range)

Mining:

15-25 Alumen
25-30 Effervescent Water + a little bit of silver ore
30-40 Bomb Ash + Mythril Ore
40-50 Black Alumen + Electrum Ore

Botany

15-25 Walnut log
25-35 Oak log
35-45 ?? log / Mahogany log (it escapes me atm, but there's a tier of log between oak and mahogany)
45-50 Rosewood log


That's what I gathered for leveling and I've had no problem getting rid of all the mats I've gotten by selling it on MB.

I understand the self sufficiency side of it, and you can probably use a large chunk of what you would have gathered by level 50 if you follow the above. BUT there's just too much to keep around with inventory space etc. I'd just sell it to the MB for a profit.

Alternatively,
From level 26-35ish botany/mining both have a node for each element that has grade 2 carbonized matter and crystals. You can gather that for the crystals which you'll use later.

Also there's a level 50 node, same concept except with grade 3 carbonized matter, you can start those at level 46.

Lots and lots and lots of Effervescent Water for making twin thread.
The alumen and black alumen too for leatherworking, alumen for making toad leather for glamoring and black alumen for hippogryth leather

Shards is the real killer,i levelled goldsmith to 50 and cul so far 42,and despite gathering every single ingredient needed to level both by myself,those damn shard amounts are just so hard to keep up with.Really eats into your bank balance,ensuring you rarely turn any kinda profit...i tried gathering those too for a while but it was just impossible.

I feel as though shard requirements should be halved across the board,or a trait given that halves amount needed,w/e.

Once I hit 40 mining I would work the electrum ore nodes.

Then as Goldsmith I would quick synth the ore into ingots.

I sold all the HQ ores and ingots. Good skillups, good gil.

I leveled all crafting classes in parallel through only leve quests, and the shards I got through the class quests and leve rewards lasted me all the way to 50. I only started to run out when I started to craft for profit and sell things on the market board.
