If you're 18, the game wants you to start running some dungeons!

Like the poster above said - do your dungeons. Also, fates are good - but if you *are* feeling a little fragile while doing them, are there other people there too? Wait till there's other folks doing it too if you are getting killed.

Go to your skills page (press P) and there should be a main menu tab. In there is something called Recommendations.
Drag that to your hotbar and use it, it'll open up a small UI with recommendations. (quests, duties, etc.) That should lead you to what other side quests you have available in your level range.
If this is your first class, you shouldn't be running low on quests.

Also with fates, at the level you are, if you have been doing your class quests you should have a ranged attack called Piercing Talon, I think. With fates use this attack to pull enemies away from the pack and that way you can kill them one at a time. If you just charge in on your own, you will die most of the time. Just hit the target at a range and let it come to you. If it tries to hit you at a range, run back a bit and it will follow a short distance bringing it clear so you can solo it. Don't run too far however or it will reset.

You will find more side quests open up as you follow the main scenario quests too.

The most likely scenario is your up to the point where you need to start the dungeons as the poster above said. If this is the case you should have a quest in your Journal telling you to enter a dungeon using the Duty Finder. This should be your next step.

If your new to group content in MMOs its worth letting your group know. They can and often will explain what you need to do. As a lancer your role will be pretty straight forward. The first few dungeons are very forgiving so they are a good place to learn.

As you progress in the main story, you unlock more sidequests. If you stopped the main quest at 14, that explains why you're seeing no quests for level 18.

You're not meant to just do quests to get to 50 - if that was the case, you'd only be able to get one class to 50 per character.

You should be doing a combination of levequests, FATEs, dungeons, and if you have them and feel like using them, quests for leveling to 50. I'm saving mine for when I'm lazy while leveling another class.

By the way, in case you have unlocked the first dungeon(s) and just don't want to do them because they're dungeons (I did this with the first several MMOs I played), you have to eventually if you want to progress in the game. Leaving your starting area is gated behind a level 20 Main Story quest, which is gated behind a level 15 "Do this dungeon!" quest.

There is no apostrophe in Au Ra.
Stop adding one three years later.

There are almost enough quests to stay on course with the main quest, but you do need to do other stuff as well. Generally the main quest does a pretty good job of keeping you at-level as long as you do the other sidequests and activities like hunt log entries as you go through the zones, although you might hit a few spots later on where you need to repeat dungeons for XP before you can progress. In any event, as long as you do your daily dungeon roulette as well as whatever dungeon the main quest is sending you to, you should be OK in terms of levelling, but you absolutely need to stick with the main quests on your first character as like 99% of the games features are gated by quest unlocks.
