Suggestion for a future expansion: Industrial Revolution-themed ambientations.

So I have seen many request various type of machinery implementations, as well as other things that many have pointed out do not fit either with Eorzea's current age nor with the Allagan Technology.

I, personally, have expressed complaints on the lack of "dirt", filth or steam-punk details. For example, the water in The Tangle, in which the Castrum dumps its sewer waters and in which MORBOLS live, the water is crystal clear. Isn't that a bit off?

So I'd love to propose, as early as this may be, to eventually let us have ambientations typical of the Industrial Revolution in Europe. This would include the typical things of the Industrial Revolution that occurred in the 800s, such as factories, labor, poverty, illnesses, and buildings that flourished thanks to the growing overpopulation in the cities: orphanages, workhouses, brothels, bad affairs alleys and so on.

Let me show you some pictures from Fable III's Bowerstone to see what I mean:

This would be a great expansion for the release of some things people have been demanding for a while, such as:
    - Machinery mounts
    - Trains and railways
    - A more 'dark' feel

As for 'where' this could be taking place, the best I can think of is a country under Imperial control, that is slowly flourishing with the new technology, though also meeting the issues typical of an Industrial Revolution, from over-exploit of the natural resources, pollution, bad working conditions, child labor, etc.

Not a bad idea. Also fitting, Next to Camp Dragonhead "THE LATRINES" That literally means toilet / outhouse. . . and yes, we go fishing there for stuff for he Ixal.

The alley un Ul'Dah behind the markets in Steps of Thal is supposed to have that feel as far as I'm concerned. To that effect, it is a dirt path, and not cobblestone if I'm not mistaken. (I'm not in front of the game so I'm suddenly doubting myself) with people huddled behind crates and the like.

It wouldn't be very friendly to new players, but I feel like Ul'Dah needed to be larger, at least the outer ring, to really re-iterate the poverty. the stated povery and corruption never feels quite as impactful as the NPC's claim.

It's called that, but they don't actually do their business there

Hmmm, very nice. Fat and sweet-fleshed indeed. Don't look so queasy─'twas some wily fishers that took to calling it our “latrines.” The best fishing hole in these parts now, thanks to most folk keeping away.

I wouldn't want the game to be too modern.
And the Steampunk style is kinda played out.
How about settings from somewhat less popular inspirations?

From how the game is currently shoven the Return of the Garlean Empire and next Eorzea vs Garlean War throughout 2.X storyline as the 2nd plot point of 2.X era it not far from what can be assumed maybe the 2nd expansion.

Garlean Empire and Doma seems to be where the story is pointing after 3.0 is over with how 2.X Main Scenario is going which would suit a Industrial revolution in Eorzea to combat the Garlean Empire's technology and enter the Garlean Empire for the final battle against the Garleans.

This may also lead to the creation of a Grand Company Airship Armada to combat the Garlean Airship Armada when the new Eorzea vs Garlean War begins.

I think Ala Mhigo is where the next big conflict between the Eorzean Alliance and the Garlean Empire will occur.

Ala Mhigo is only 1 area of what may fill into the Expansion. We also have to consider new contents for 3.X era as well.

Though the Battle for Ala Mhigo would make a great ending for 3.X era Main Scenario if they plan to make 4.0 the Garlean Empire and Doma. Making 3.X era Main Scenario focus on the Eorzea vs Garlean war in Eorzea while 4.0 focus on the final parts of the War in the Garlean Empire and Doma.

Heh, Gramul posted one of the super phallic temples.. :P (Kandariya Mahadeva)

I'd love to see me some massive scale mountain side temple, peak high towns, belled prayer flag (must have audio lol)..
    Kailasa:

I feel like there is a void for a 'full housed' city, at least imo (vicotrian/venentian housing?)

Though I would like to see some technological plentiful areas (/not/ everywhere), and an industrial area might fit into a Midgard/Zanarkand slum area - which imo could be possible at least in a Garlean city (a lot of black steel, very high technology). Although, I would like to see a high fantasy city like FFXI Jueno or FFX Bevelle or more recently FFXV Leviathan city

Related due to gratuitous use of water, but also an elven/tree location please.. lol

+1 for all, because I like environments <3
