    Issue with launcher - "FFXIV has stopped working"

    For the past five days, I've been experiencing a new problem with the launcher. It loads up properly. All the images and links are visible/normal and clickable (and take you to the appropriate pop-up windows or screens).

    The issue occurs when I attempt to log in -- once I've entered my username, pw and secret key and press "log in", I get a sudden window popping up that says "FFXIV launcher has stopped working" and the launcher closes. This will happen repeatedly until I am finally able to log in (get to the "Start" button without crashes) and then the game works as expected.

    I wasn't aware of any "file fix" tool for the game or if I would just have to reinstall to see if that's the issue. Has anyone else had that problem ever? Any suggestions?

    EDIT -- After posting this, I suddenly got a new pop up window upon trying to log in "System error -2146697208. HTTPS System Error." I will try researching that now...

    Sounds like you'll need to reinstall the game. Something you could try is running a check disk and set it to automatically fix file system errors and also set it to scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors. You can find check disk by right clicking on you hard drive and the click properties then go to the tools tab. You might have to reboot you system after you tell it to run the check disk. This could take up to an hour to finsh depending on the size of you hard drive. You could also try a disk Defrag as well.

    I've been having this same issue. Googling for answers says it's a DEX issue, but when I tried to disable DEX for FFXIV, I get the message that it can not be turned off for this game.

    I've uninstalled and reinstalled nVidia drivers, I've run scan disk, I've even tried the password change that I've seen mentioned.

    I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling the game, but everything I've read says that doesn't actually work, so I'm not terribly optimistic about that solution. :\

    I have not been able to play the game for about four days now, due to this repeated and constant crash.

    I've given up trying to fix it since I don't think a reinstall will do anything.......I just keep trying to log in and eventually it works. It's annoying >.<

    This issue just happened to me after todays hotfix.

    EDIT - I managed to fix my issue. It's because my audio interface had crashed on PC startup and I hadn't realised. Realm Reborn is really particular about audio output, and doesn't allow you to switch audio devices on the fly ingame even. So if your currently selected one isn't even working when you launch or are mid-game, chances are it's going to shout at you. I simply unplugged my audio interface (Komplete Audio 6) and plugged it back in. Tried to launch the game again, and it worked fine.

    the problem was fixed for me after I uninstalled/re-installed it. If you are having this issue maybe it will work for you or maybe it wont.....feel like a got lucky on this one. This is the weirdest thing ever!

    Hope yall can find a solution.

    The game is one of the pickiest pieces of software I've used in my 30yrs of IT use and seems to randomly be able to develop issues with zero changes elsewhere. I often get similar crashes when closing down the game, not to mention the general graphical & performance issues.

    I'm hoping that a lot of it is related to the legacy nature of the software and the upcoming DirectX update will fix some of the problems inherent in old DX9 emulation.

    This is what I do... I start the character benchmark running in a Window then I click Play. If I don't do this, the game window just closes or I get a "... has stopped responding" error. Very weird indeed.

    I am having this same issue after the patch yesterday. Last night it would let me play for about 15-20 between crashes now i cant even log in. Event Details as follows:

    It has been alot better the past few days for some reason...it's like this game can't figure out if it likes to run or not XD
