We don't use the term "Homosexual" anymore.
It's almost a derogatory term now. I think because the only people who still use the H word are conservative-politicians and/or religious groups that are anti-equal rights for LGBT people.
I believe that it would be very beneficial for various posters to avoid lacing their posts with insults and swear words. It's also pretty laughable to accuse someone of being a 'bigot' for their actual or potential political views - though I can't say that I'm surprised. This particular brand of 'tolerance' only extends to those who pat each other on the back it would seem!
It's not rocket science - this is exactly why politics are frowned upon as a point of discussion on privately owned forums.
Welp, this thread might end up being closed soon...
Well, he may be a part of a subgroup within the homosexual community who is casual about his orientation. He knows who he identifies himself as, but may get tired of seeing shows constantly portray the community as either X or Y, but never Z (the casual homosexual you don't really know is homosexual). He is not so much talking, as complaining. And by doing so he is basically saying that gay men with those personality traits are a joke.
This kinda goes to what I just said about in-game gear styles. You can ask for more of something to fit you, without shitting all over the other things.
There's a saying my dad constantly told me when I was a kid. "Never assume. Or else you make an -first three letters of assume- of yourself." Whenever I watch something with no romance at all, I never think what orientation a character is.Think of it like this tho. Say in movies where there is no romance in the story line. Be it action/comedy/thriller/horror I think it's safe to say that the leading characters would be assumed to be straight. Even with no reference to their sexual orientation.
Like how you referenced ParaNorman. What's his name (the older brother) was that stereotypical dumb, muscle jock. People were surprised to find out at the end that he was gay, because even tho nothing was referenced about his sexual orientation in the movie, up to that point it was assumed he was straight.
Let's take the jock for example, I never assumed his orientation. I did, however, notice that he never responded to the main characters sisters advances. She was flirting with him every so often, but he never responded to them. This made the reveal less of a surprise to me (though to others, it was definitely a "oh, he was gay").

D: Wh....whuuut? Is this true? I have never heard about people having a problem with that term. I sure don't. It's a cool word, to me at least.
Ah, OK. XD I came under the impression you didn't get me.

Yeah, there was even a pretty big deal a couple of years back in trying to get FoxNews to stop saying it.
Personally I hate the word. It sounds like an illness. I guess because it originated in a time where when ever people used the word, nothing positive ever followed it.

""To most ears it probably sounds inoffensive. A little outdated and clinical, perhaps, but innocuous enough.""
"As Equality Matters reported this week, use of the term "homosexual" to refer to gay and lesbian people long ago fell out of favor with most mainstream news outlets, as "homosexual" is commonly used by opponents of LGBT equality — and rarely by advocates."
I think FoxNews say Gay or LGBT now.
LOL you realize bigotry does fall under political views, right?
EDIT:
Speak for yourself. I can communicate through passive-aggressive remarks too, you know.

Yeesh, it's getting pretty hostile up in here.
We were talking about gear a bit weren't we? You reckon we'll get the bunny ears soon? They have said we would right? Wonder if it'll be just the ears or if we'll get some outfit too. It'd be nice if there were two kinds like a suit kind of thing or perhaps hotpants, and then the classic bathing suit. One problem I have with super tight pants on the guys though is... I'd like there to be a bit more of a bulge. I'm so sorry if this makes anyone uncomfortable btw!
Seems to be quite a few fellow gay dudes in this thread. Just wanted to add that we have a hot tub downstairs in our FC house, and there's plenty of room. If ya know what I'm saying. *wink wonk*

Does it even matter anymore? I don't really believe that you're genuinely curious because I've already explained what it is about your comments that I find so offensive. I think both you and fantasticm don't really care what it is I'm saying, you just think I'm being shrill and emotional for no reason. (Which is partially true, I am being very shrill and very emotional). But I really don't know what else to say. I've said what I have to say as clearly as I know how to. We just don't see eye-to-eye here. I think since I am obviously in the minority on this issue, I'll just pick up my hat and move on.
"Hello, I'm auditioning for the role of Ser Aymeric de Borel, and I'll be singing Electric Chapel by Lady Gaga"
How did we degrade from asking for more masculine slanted gearset styles to expand everyone's options to calling each other names, again?
Can I play my ace card and be the neutral ground?
