SMN T10 - Add Grouping Top DPS

I've heard of this add grouping on either side of the boss, right on the edge of his hitbox so they don't link. With the changes to SMN MP I'm curious if anyone has tried pushing crazy DPS on SMN using this.

    The way I invision it.

    Ifrit Opener with Rouse/Spur Enkindle
SC Garuda after buffs wear off.
RS +Pot Contagion just prior to adds. (BV Foes while applying dots)

Shadow Flare inside bosses hitbox to hopefully get adds. Bane from boss. Stand inside boss M2 +Blizz II spam.

    SC Ifrit after adds.

2nd set of adds. RS Dots +Foes prior to adds Contagion. SF M2. Rouse/Spur Enkindle off Boss to hit all adds +Lvl 2 LB

    SC Ifrit and finish fight.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Alternatively you may want to use Rouse/Spur Enkindle with Garuda on the first set of adds due to Enkindle not being up again for the 2nd set due to fast kills. This combined with Aerial Slash will be more damage than using Ifrit. (Instead of opening with it on Ifrit)

Even with me focusing on mp management ( using a ED on every aetherflow set,) I wouldn't even try to summon that much. That mp buff made a very little differnece for me >.>

Unless you were getting a ballad, that's essentially 2000 MP mid combat, don't think you would be able to pull that off unless you definitely Energy Drained a couple times..

If I was gonna attempt this, I would probably start with Ifrit and do a basic opener. When hes getting to about 88-89 percent -> SC Garuda, Raging Strikes, INT Pot Dots + contagion and shadow flare on boss.

Miasma 2 then bane off boss, use Aerial slash on boss then re-target garuda. Rouse , Spur, Enkindle the boss asap.spam Bliz 2 alil.

Keep Garuda up through to the next set( Do not use single target Miasma 2 in this fight even if contagion is up for the sake of saving MP) and try to set it up the same way. You wont have Raging Strikes or Pot here immediately but you should refresh your DoTs somewhere in there. If you kill the first 4 mobs before the last 2 spawn, then save Raging Int Pots for DoTs there and hopefully be able to put buffed DoTs on the boss. Switch to Ifrit afterwards. for the rest of the fight. You will probably with most 135/130 gear hit around....570+ by the end assuming your other DPS are pushing the fight fast.

At the same time however this fight doesn't really benefit SMN class when this strat is involved I would imagine, as AoEs from everyone are going out in mass so, I don't see us doing insanely high numbers like some of the other classes cause well it would be dying just that fast.

Unfortunately most groups truly trying to push their DPS with this AoE strat will by default be using a BLM since their goal is max DPS, and bringing SMN is strictly opposite this.

You'd have to find a truly great SMN, in an otherwise bad group but one who works on the AoE strat regardless, and see their results.

    Thanks for your response.

Yeah, I don't see SMN doing as much as a BLM in that strat. Just the thought of hitting all the adds with buffed dots and a fully Buffed Aerial Slash (Rouse/Spur + BV Foes <3) was pretty enticing. That and LB2 on the second set while your Dots are ticking, would just be so fun.

You're right, I would have to switch it up a bit, cause all that Summoning would get pretty MP heavy, even with the changes.
Probably just start with Garuda out since 85% comes extremely fast anyways, you wouldn't lose a whole lot without Ifrit to start.

SC Ifrit after adds since that phase is a bit longer (and without Foes) and you wont have to worry about timing pots with Foes/Contagion etc for the 2nd adds. So summoning Garuda back before 2nd adds wont be such a cluster.

I'd still want to see what SMN could do with a great group using this strat, cause I'm sure it couldn't be worse than SMN doing the normal strat.

I believe that in AoE strat groups who try to max their clear time, they purposefully sacrifice BRD's DPS to sing Ballad so WHM can sustain the Holy spam, regular DPS, and keeping up solo heal, so you might be able to do some pet swapping in such a group. I could be wrong about those groups using Ballad, but from my experience the main limiting factor of a WHM DPSing above 100+ while solo healing is MP unless they do some high level play where SCH puts up DoTs then will take over healing while WHM DPSes until DoTs get put back up.

Hmmm, I would think that having SCH solo heal, and just bring another BLM would be better if that was the case. SCH could probably even DPS a bit on add phases by pre-casting Succor with Mantra and Fey Illumination before the adds spawn (Prey). No idea if you can still dot up the boss while he's immune to damage, if SCH wanted to Bane, since they don't have Contagion to extend the dots.

    ------------------------------------

But with all that aside, I think you could fit a couple pet swaps in a Summoner since you're saving all the MP on casting extra Dots, by Baneing all mobs at once. Blizz II spam will burn a lot of MP, so that would be the area to watch. Hopefully the fight would still end fast enough to not go OOM burning that hard.

First thing we tried. Nope, doesn't work. Nor can you sustain your stacks as BLM on an immune target, oddly enough, even if your AoE hits the non-immune enemies - not that it's a problem, just means you need to use a non-4 hitter fire attack every once in a while.
