Cloud gear, the missing part.

Thanks for the cloud gear. Love it.

While i can do without the hair style, the good old buster sword is missing from my conspicuously empty sword rack. Is it unreasonable to speculate that we could see a future buster sword after heavensward hit ? No reason not to if DRKs are around.

If its not in the plans, please DO IT

It won't appear as a weapon because it already technically exists as the form of the level 3 melee Limit Break - so that would just be confusing to have it as an actual weapon. Not to mention the Buster Sword is a two-handed sword, not a single handed one like GLA/PLD wields (but DRK would be suitable naturally).

Also the Cloud outfit is his Advent Children costume, which, considering he never used the Buster Sword in FFVIIAC, instead using his new 'six-in-one' Fusion Sword, I still doubt we'll see it as an actual weapon.

Cloud was not a Dark Knight.

Of all the Jobs in FF14, including the 3 coming with Heavensward, Cloud most closely fit the Warrior. It was his role, even if FF14's "warrior gear" does not fit Cloud's FF7 image.

To be fair, no one in FFVII really had a solid role or job. The Materia system dictated who filled what role. So if there was Darkness materia in FFVII (which there was in FFVII: BC), then Cloud would easily have been a Dark Knight.

Actually, their weaponry came closest to that, and you then had the freedom to give them whatever Materia (and thus spells) you wanted to.

Tifa was a Monk, Cloud was a Warrior, Yuffie was a Ninja, and I don't recall the rest.

A common misconception that Cloud was Emo in FFVII. He definitely was in Advent Children and other later tellings of the story, but in FFVII, he was struggling with an identity crisis the whole time. Once he snapped out of it, he was actually fine. Introverted, but fine.

Also, Meteor has always been the ultimate spell of a Black Mage, not a Dark Knight, so the Black Materia is no indication whatsoever of a Dark Knight's abilities. I'm referring to the Darkness materia from FFVII: Crisis Core when Zack could use an ability called Darkness which dealt significantly higher damage at the cost of his own HP, which is what a Dark Knight's signature ability, Souleater, does.

But all of that aside, Cloud wields a two-handed sword in FFVII. In FFXIV, the job that wields two-handed swords is Dark Knight. So I am willing to bet that, if any job gets the Buster Sword, it will probably be Dark Knight.

thats what i loved about old school FC, all the characters were way more versatile than these mmo roles. its actually getting pretty boring for me too, every single fight is "stand here, get hit, rinse and repeat".
