Heavensward CE preorders not being released in AUS???

Well, yes, however buying the CE gives you a "code" that allows you to download the game (so those that are waiting for their CE copies to be delivered can still get early access while it arrives). I can't imagine the code that gets sent to your inbox would be region specific.

Code and SE account are region specific. If you have an SE EU account you need the code from a EU gamebox to be able to register it to the account.
At least this is how it is with the main game.

Hi, I am a ps4 FF XIV CE player. I bought and downloaded the game from PSN. Do I have to buy again for the Heavensward? Or do I just need to download the patch from the launcher?

We know that you have to buy it at least once. So if you have only the PS4 version, yes.
If you buy the PC version, then we still don't know if you also have to buy the PS4 version.

Which may mean Australia will miss out anyway. SE don't really update or sell collectors editions on their SE store in Australia (and England. Usually France, Sweden or Germany get the CE stuff). Heck, you can't even buy the Before Meteor or A Realm Reborn soundtrack. Had to use cdjapan :/

Aus player here. I called up EBGames Customer Contact Centre (133930) earlier in the day and spoke to a representative inquiring about CE preorders. While he did confirm it currently isnt on their systems AT THE MOMENT, he said he had called their procurement team who then relayed to me that they were attempting to gain information about the purchase from the vendor (SE) and advised me to either await official news from EB regarding the preorder or keep calling back every so often for news. He seemed optimistic that we will receive it because we received the 2.0 Collectors Edition, whats to stop us from receiving the Heavensward one?

I'm not sure which rep you spoke to but the one I spoke to said it was quite unlikely. 2.0 CE was released over 1.5 years ago and as others have said SE has seemingly changed its policy on releasing CEs outside of their online store.. which would leave us AUS/NZ players out without a chance....

NB: Even if I were to buy a USA CE, all I would be able to use is the statue.. the codes would be useless as they are region locked...

ie. You don't actually use the shiny DVD that comes in the box (as it likely won't work due to region). If you're buying the physical CE, you're buying it for exactly that - the physical stuff like figurines etc.

codes are also region specific, pre-established to be used into some regions, unfortunately. Physical is good for many reasons, even the DVD has its use. CE is something very hard to get in here..close to impossible, no shops have them even in the prevision to be sold and arent aware of it. For the code, is albeit the same story, alas.

I talked to Gamestop a long time ago when I first saw that they were taking preorders for the regular version and the release date was still unknown. They haven’t received SquareEnix CEs in a long time.

I know people and trying to justify it with the ARR 2.0 CE version that was release in retail stores, but you have to remember that they were still optimistic about the future of the game. It was used as an advertising gig for those that came into a store and saw it. The 2.0 edition sold quickly once word spread about how great the game was. From a marketing stand point, they probably realized that they can just cut out the middle man and sell the CEs on their store because their hardcore fans will know to be on stand by to snag CEs.

I hope that with the preorder release on 16th will be more of a tally count on how many CEs to make versus a set quantity. They let us know how many Type-Zero CEs would be available. Seeing that they haven’t announced the quantity yet for Heavensward, I’m hoping it will be my assumption and it will be a timed CE availability. There is still almost 3 months to go before official release.

Since this is just an expansion, it would be smart for them to not set the activation code based on region since your account already states its region. The expansion code would be just a ticket to allow you into the Heavensward content.

I’m sure they would not purposely exclude a country from accessing their CEs unless there was a reason. A lot of the time it has to do with Government regulations.

Fair enough, but AUS/NZ have a long standing history of getting screwed over when it comes to shiny things being released. Quite a few (if not most) of the CE's and limited edition consoles never make it to our stores, so I would just like confirmation from a rep that there is no need for concern, or that it is true that AUS/NZ are not getting CE's (or at least a "we'll look into it")
