It's called sarcasm, and is in response to my whole FC plus many others on my server responding negatively to the price listed on Mighty Ape
Well it's undeniable that the pricing is very high, Much more than what we all thought it would be. There is little point in trying to complain about the first store listing we find selling the product, Even more so after working so hard at this rally to get at least some information on who will be selling it if any.
Strangely enough I sort of figured it might be in the 300-350 price range considering the Type-0 Collector's Edition was basically a carbon copy of the A Realm Reborn's Collector's Edition for almost a $100 more.
Type-0 HD CE was only around $200AUD in Australia via EB Games. I'd assume it was going to be around that price for Heavensward.Well it's undeniable that the pricing is very high, Much more than what we all thought it would be. For here in New Zealand Type-0 HD ended up being $259 from EB Games as an Exclusive only and A Realm Reborn coming in at $159. Plus you have to consider you are getting a statue, Which would probably end up selling for $50'ish with of course the fancy display box.

Maybe if it was a good size statue, but it's only a tiny miniature that fits in the palm of your hand. I've got a few dragon statues I've purchased over the years that are far larger than the CE miniature and even they weren't $50 each.
There is no possible way that miniature justifies spending $379NZ when you can get the digital CE for $70NZ.
In the US, the physical CE is $129.99US, with current exchange rates, that converts to $170NZ, which while still expensive, is far, far less then what they are charging. Somebody is being extremely greedy and putting an exorbitant mark up on the price.
It also seems to me that SE forgot to take different currencies into account, either that or deliberately abused them:
UK -- £129.
US -- $129.
Australia -- $379AUD.
NZ -- $379NZD.
Why the same price when every currency has different buying powers...?
The problem starts with them cheating the UK players by not adjusting the price of the EU version to bring it in line with the currency exchange rate and then being the only MMO developer to force the oceanic players to purchase the EU version instead of the US version like every other MMO -- at least that I know of, and I've played a lot of MMOs. £129 is $253NZ... add taxes and import costs, markups, we end up with what we have here... $379

Yea well for an Amiibo sized statue from the looks of it who knows what it's actual worth is, But I've seen some pretty expensive small statues myself that have gone for more. So it's possible that just the detailing itself may be worth it, But you can't really tell unless your staring at it since pictures can easily lie. Also just because it's going to be on what they called a "Limited Run" increases it's value to some.
I gave an entire example as to why things can be more expensive for consumers in AUS/NZ a few pages back. http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post2853084
But in the end there's people out there willing to put up the money for it regardless, So either way it's a never ending cycle.

Yeah, that's been up there for a while. It's not the CE thoughIt's also the combined ARR+HW and I expect most people here already have the base game.
Hello everyone,
As you have already seen yourselves, FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward and the FINAL FANTASY XIV: Online bundle are slowly starting to appear on retailer websites in Australia and New Zealand.
Other versions of these titles should soon be added to these sites, but details are currently being finalised.
Please note that due to the time difference there is a good chance you might actually see the links before us when they go live, but nonetheless, we will update this thread as soon as we have more confirmed information on availability.
Thanks for your patience!
I hope you mean the price is the details being finalised...? Availability is not the issue we have with it now...Hello everyone,
