According to this, following some sort of management reshuffle, Yoshi is now sitting on SE's Board of Directors.

First off, congratulations Yoshi, this is long overdue and you thoroughly deserve this. It's nice to see the company recognize that you pretty much single-handedly saved them from near-bankruptcy.

That said, I can't help but wonder whether he might be more distant from this game now. Not to mention that bad things happen when MMO's change management mid-development, which sets off warning signs for Heavensward. I don't think it's likely to happen, but it would be nice to have some reassurance.

Without wanting to run laps to the dictionary to understand that document... if it's accurate, Congratulations.

I share that worry, however. Being a (fully involved) board member is extremely time consuming. But from a quick glance over, he might "just" be an executive now? (I'm not at all good with JP corporate terms). If he is, well, saw that coming, he's been mentioning getting involved with other Square games.

From what google says, hes a developmental executive, while others are division executives, so i expect its similar to what he does already with XIV

It was actually only a matter of time before he got promoted. Japanese companies promote based more on seniority than actual merit, so while it COULD be recognition of him doing a good job, it could also be to distinguish him from the younger developers of other projects.

Uhm.... given the way he turned FFXIV around, which reportedly kept all of Squeenix in the black at a time when it wasn't doing too well, I really doubt this is anything but merit.

Also, there's a parallel reddit thread. According to them... it seems he is on the board, with a specific responsibility for development.
