All in all fate grinds in between dungeon ques is the fastest way to get to 50. Thats pretty much it.... once you get a job to 50 the secondary ones are a little faster (50% bonus xp) so.

The one thing that will slow you down is the initial 1-50 story quests as they do take a lot of time.

This. If you're just grinding to level 50 and not doing the story quests, it goes quite fast. When I first started playing, I didn't realize that I was supposed to be doing the story quests and so I hit the trial level cap in a couple of days of casual play from just killing mobs and doing FATEs and sidequests.
