Who else's not looking forward to Dark Knight?

As a DPS who will be "flocking" to this class, I must say I am very excited for its release. I've been waiting for a tank class that interests me since launch, as I have zero interest in the Pally or Warrior. I'm actually excited to finally give tanking a proper try, and I am determined to learn how to do it well.

If DK isn't your cup of tea, fine. But don't be a dick to people who are excited for it just because you don't like the class. Give some of us a chance to actually learn how to play the class properly before you decide we all suck. Anyone who understands the mechanics of party roles will know that a tank and a DPS are totally different. You're not the only person in the game who understands this.

I main tank right now, and already play it like a DPS. I don't know if I could possibly be more DPS-like as Dark Knight, but I'm willing to step up to the challenge!

Heh, I only play as a DPS-Tank when I'm out in the open fields, OTing a HM primal, or in the Main Scenario dungeons when someone else stepped up as MT.

Speaking of DPSing as a Tank, I still can't help but have this feeling that DRK is going to be the most DPS based job of the 3 Tanks, while still having all the essential functions of proper tanking through its abilities and traits, resulting in PLD's being the most defensive, DRK's being the most offensive, and WAR's being somewhere in-between.

But... too early to tell right now of course.

I'm mildly intrigued. I'll level it and maybe I'll love, maybe not. But as for being terrified of idiots tanking in my dungeons? I'll be leveling dark so if there's a stupid dark in my parties it's my fault. Don't have to worry about other tanks if you are the tank.

DRK was actually the reason I started playing this game. I even started off as a tank so I could learn as much about tanking as possible in the meantime.

I don't think people will treat it like a DPS job, so I'm not really worried about it. I actually think the majority of DRKs will be people who already play a tank, like myself. Can't wait for DRK.

This is the most likely happening. People talk a big game but I can't imagine that DRK is going to bring a boatload of new people to tanking on any more than a temporary basis. Certainly people will flock to the new stuff, but there'll be three new shinies all at the same time.

I'm sure, at Heavensward, lots of statics will shake up roles and the like, but I just don't see the tank population changing much in proportion to how it is now.

Maybe not so much, machinist supposedly have an ability for MP tick shots, but all the old jobs will have new abilities when expansion comes. I just said bards coz they are the current "refresher support job" with mp. Can only speculate who will be the "ideal" or "preferred" party setup for Drk as tank.

I play a tank because I like tanking and I'm going to try DRK out and, barring terrible weakness, most likely will main it for 3.x raiding since Warrior bores me to tears and Paladin is getting a little stale. So I'm looking forward to it, and I doubt many 'DPS going DRK' will stay that way since tanking isn't something many people enjoy doing.
