Who else's not looking forward to Dark Knight?

With the new videos and info coming out. Dark Knight seems to be getting labeled as the new "Cool Job". How many DPS who have never tanked before are going to be flocking to it? As well as all the FFXI players that played DRK as a DPS....

Don't know about you. But am going to be avoiding the dungeons until patch 3.0 cools down a bit.

My question is: why aren't people more concerned about PLDs who can't count to three over potentially bad players flocking over to the Flavour of the Month job? There are people who will figure out how to play DRK effectively through theorycrafting and trail and error, so tanking mistakes and mishaps are to be expected. If anything, we should be more concerned about people thinking they can tank without properly familiarizing themselves with the fundamentals. Hell, I main BRD but I play WAR and PLD better than others who main those tank roles. Holding hate, mitigating damage, and dishing out plenty of damage which also helps with enmity generation... There are tank players in this game who cannot do any of that even if their lives depended on it.

Instead of you being negative about bad players giving DRK a spin, OP, I'm looking forward to what the new tank job can bring to the table and how it performs. Bad players are to be expected no matter where you go.

Anything new is exciting. And people playing sub-optimally can make things exciting too, as you have to work harder to pick up the slack. My interest in DRK increased after hearing hints about how it works, managing the power of darkness. It might be greatly different to any other job. I guess it being MP-based would make it the first DoM tank in the game.

I'm not going to bother with the new jobs, I'm just going to level my ninja to 60 then my warrior. I enjoy tanking but I don't main one, and I'm very content with my warrior being my tank job.

As for looking forward to DRK, I most certainly am.
I originally played both warrior and pally based on what the other tank was in 8mans but I'll probably switch warrior with DRK since I prefer swords to axes.

Looking at the name "Derp Knight" reminds me of what I said in a Linkshell once.

"Dark Knight is probably going to have an identity crisis when it first releases. Everyone's going to be trying to play it as a DPS class aside from the already experienced Tank players who actually know how to Tank."

No! This is a chance for pre-existing original tanks elitism! I plan to be a massive arse to each and every DRK I see right from hour one, those hipsters have it coming!
