China servers are up since Aug 25-27 (beta access).
South Korea is TBA, so their numbers are not part of these figures.

So, yeah, that 1.5m bump since january must include chinese players. 7 months ago, the pre-orders for the chinese version were breaking the 1m point. It wouldn't surprise me if the figure was up to 1.5 registered chinese accounts today.

I was just wondering what figures were included in the recent "we break 4m registered users!"... and why SE didn't include the chinese figures in the update they gave to MCV UK.
I mean... when giving figures like that, excluding a third of your playerbase seems weird. Even if they are on the "pay by time" model. Plus, giving these numbers when the annual financial report is just 2-3 months away doesn't makes a lot of sense.

Anyway, we are completly out of the main topic here. I was just wondering what numbers did Shadex see... The Polygon article doesn't include the update of MCV, so I though he saw these old ones.
Whatever the case, 500k subs is a good number (plus chinese players), and the server restrictions does make sense in that context.
