Some graphical errors with Raedon HD 6970

First i would like to state that running 2 of these in Crossfire mode does not improve the performance greater than using just one ; ;. Secondly, every now and then there are strange colorful shapes that flash in the center of my screen, and when my camera angle is set down too low, there is an eternal shadow that the bottom of the screen that covers about 10% of the screen horizontally.

I'm having the same issue Reika, I am using a Radeon HD 6870, shadows seem to flicker and spells/attacks make this distorted flash sometimes. Instead of my character having a shadow, the entire bottom of my screen is covered in shadow instead when zoom in too close. I have currently found no way to fix it.

While its not game breaking, it is very annoying.

There are some things you can try to correct the problem. But they're mostly shots in the dark:

Turn OFF or ON Vsync in your Catalyst Control Panel
    Turn OFF Character Shadows in-game
    Turn OFF Ambient Occlusion
Adjust other FFXIV config graphic settings

If you can narrow the problem down to a specific setting, that might help them fix the bug. Also, you should see significant improvement when you're running in crossfire mode, but you may have to be in Full Screen for the second card to work. In any case, make sure you have the latest drivers and whatnot.

FFXIV does support SLI and Crossfire.

I am using a Radeon 5800 card and have been having some visual disturbances in game also. They are fairly subtle and I have only noticed them over the past few weeks. Most noticeable is on the ferry the water no longer looks beautiful, but blocky and a bit foggy. Otherwise I have an intermittently noticeable horizontal bar about 1 inch thick and it rolls down the screen from top to bottom, causing the area in question to become "warbly" or blurred.
I downloaded the latest graphics drivers, and have not noticed it using any other application on my pc other than ffxiv. I am not sure if it is game related, or a problem with my hardware/software. The pc is less than 6 months old though, so hope its not the graphics card going out already :P. Any Ideas?

Paikea: You need to enable Vsync to fix the "warbly" line. Technically it is screen tearing. Get a program like D3doverrider that comes packaged with rivatuner and enable both vsync and triple buffering. That will fix the "warbly" line. Or if you are using Windows 7 with Aero, play in windowed mode which automatically vsyncs games. I don't recommend that option tho as it seems to make games run slower. I disabled aero altogether now I force through d3doverrider. Keep in mind you will see probably significant slow downs unless you also enable triple buffering, but triple buffering takes alot of vram so you may see reduced framerates especially in towns, but nothing major and most likely never under 30 fps.

I also have a 5870 and I can play with 1920x1080, 9/4, 4xMSAA, High/Highest and get 60 FPS in the field, 30 fps in towns. Before the triple buffering/vsync it was 60 fps but way less, like 27 in fields. After triple buffering it flip-flopped, now I get 60 fps in fields where it matters but 30-60 fps in towns depending on which part of town. Certain parts of towns seem to use more VRAM so I get lower fps there. Go figure.
