Yeah I pretty much assumed that Ishgardian Elezen were all Wildwood. No need for a new subrace.

i think that a majority of ishgardians are wildwood in origin, too. But it would'nt surprise me if some or many are mixed with duskwight (who decided to leave for the surface) since it seems like there's not the same prejudice against them unlike gridania

So two groups with completely different lifestyles that have been separated for 1000+ years in seperate regions shouldn't be considered fundamentally different when a break of just 400 years produces a distinct subset? Doesn't seem like a strong argument to me. Frolicking around the woods isn't quite the same sort of behavior as battling dragons as part of a religious order of knights for centuries on end.

Someone made a joke during NA fanfest about two races having sex and they said it's a possibility. If you pay attention to the ears of the woman who accompanies the temple knight in the story you should also be noticing she's a hyur/elezen hybrid.

she isn't mixed race but she isn't a hyur either...look forward to it![]()
A-certain-hair-stylist-hailing-from-a-certain-snowy-mountain-region-and-carrying-noble-ish-blood-who-has-a-brother-looking-for-him-in-a-certain-moogle-delivery-quest-is-not-a-wildwood-elezen...

I'd also point out that what creates "race" IRL (geographical location) is very different between living in the mountains, even pre-calamity versus living in sunny woods. I won't go into time because the real life equivalent process takes waaaaaaay longer than this game's timeline seems to accommodate. Not to mention the noble houses would lead to a form of selective breeding separating them genetically from outsiders. (Ishgardian Elezen would probably have certain genetic defects or vulnerability to conditions/diseases that Wildwood and Duskwights would not.) You can bring up the past lore if you'd like but I just don't think the writers have yet accounted for the reality that under the rules used to establish differences in the other groups the criteria are being met here for a meaningful difference, and for the people who care about stats it just doesn't fit as is. (Yes I know it's a statistical triviality gameplay wise.)
