Probably not
What......
to elaborate, ninja assassinate and dragoon jumps aren't actual jumps. that's just what the animation looks like. you technically only move along the X and Y axes when you use the skills. The vertical movement is pure appearance. They're not going to try to wrestle with the Z-axis.
Also, AOEs as they stand now only move along the x and y axes as well. so even if a jump DID put you 50 feet in the air, if your X and Y coords don't change, you're getting hit. This is why jumping over hazards doesn't work.
Okay thx for the info.
I agre with most of what you say but for this part above: i'm not sure what exactly you mean with hazards but if you mean every AOE effect that harms you then that is not absolutly right. While i know no Monster aoe that is affected by beeing in the air there are effects on the ground that can be avoided with jumping. Examples for this would be the poison liquid in ct1, the Bonus/Malus squares in chocobo racing, the slow down liquid in toto-rak,... can name these three right now maybe there are more.
What I want to say is: it is not really used in battle right now as far as I know but the possibility to avoid an area effect by being in the air is there.
These are separate ones that affect a specific area, note the "poison" is a liquid that fills a certain area. And Chocobo Racing is, forgive the pun, a separate animal altogether. They're special cases that are specifically designed that way, and you'll also note they don't crop up in many places other than that. I've tried to jump over the bear traps in Hullbreaker a few times myself to...mixed results. It's never all that consistent.
Also I'm pretty sure jumping doesn't let you avoid the leaden effect in toto-rak, otherwise i would personally bunny hop the damn stuff.
But this is mostly for enemy-based effects. For example, even though it by all rights should, jumping has absolutely no effect on Weight of the Land or Ramuh's electricity hitting the water.
