As someone whose raid group has had 13 down for a number of weeks (if I am counting dread weaps we've had it down for 8 or 9 weeks), and who doesn't have a lot of motivation for the grind-fest stuff, this is what I am going to keep myself occupied with:

    - Finishing WAR Zeta. I am on the Nexus > Zodiac step. I don't really have the time to be a grind-hard, but I think its an important experience in an MMO to do the "big weapon" quest.
    - Trying my hand at crafting. This is going to include finding a decent way to make gil that is traditional. First step will be grinding out every job to 50. I'll do this while I wait in queue as MNK or SMN when I can't take tanking another CPMHM : D
    - Triple Triad. I spent a lot of time in FFVIII playing TT, but that was because I knew I could get powerful rewards for having and turning in certain cards (really awesome items to convert to junction magic). In this game, there really isn't a real reward that affects how powerful you are, but it has been mildly entertaining for now. 24 cards so far I think just from messing around - just got Bahamut!
    - Get the derp lizard from the Amal'jaa and the WAR bear. I think I'm getting relatively close! I don't really have any other special mounts except the golden magitek - I think I have 50 trials left on WAR to get the bear and about 1/2 the last rank on Amal'jaa beastmen.
    - Increase my FCs/my own reputation on the server. I think its probably worth while to get a better name for myself and my associations - this game is so much easier when people owe you favors! : D. Being able to pull in 2 friends to help with a T9 clear for some newbies is a good feeling, and by calling in 2 favors you just gained 5 people's thanks. Not that I am bartering favors and manipulating people, but its a game about giving and taking from your friends to accomplish the things you want.

There is stuff to do, but to be honest if I played 12 hours+ per week I'd probably have nothing to do by now. I have no interest in fishing or botany or sight seeing or chocobo racing, and I probably will never touch those things unless they are changed in some way. Just because there is content available in a game you play doesn't mean you should be forced to complete it and enjoy it before you are allowed to say you are bored.

On the other side of the coin, just because you don't want to do it doesn't mean others don't as well. There is PLENTLY to do in this game - it would take a real genuine effort to have finished everything, so don't go spreading the rumor that this game is empty and boring. Maybe for you it is, for a lot of people there is a lot left to do!

P.S. full support behind FCoB being unlocked ASAP. Since they are going to completely trivialize it (most likely) with expansion, they should encourage people to get in, farm the stuff they want, and have fun in that playground before it becomes a ghost town. My suspicion is that it will be more abandoned than BCoB on Heavensward drop.

EDIT: They should unlock it on the same TIME-LINE (days, not patches) as BCoB and SCoB so as not to diminish the accomplishment of clearing it before unlock.

Considering the gap between the final released content and Heavensward's release date, SE is doing quite well compared to most MMOs. WoW was mentioned earlier. WoW's last expac had a 14 month break between the last content release and the expac release.

While not all the content in the game may appeal to all players, its still content. SE has a broad playerbase with different tastes and has to try and cater to all of them as best as they can. When Heavensward releases players will have a lot to digest. The three months between now and that release aren't really that extreme.

Leaving all the talk of 'bored players', 'other mmos' and 'promised dates' behind, I'm glad they delayed it. It means they felt it needed more work and, gasp, decided to give it more work! The horror! Damn them for wanting to release a more polished product! Don't they know?! Ain't nobody got time fo' dat! Seriously, I never understood the outrage over pushed back release dates. Sure, deadlines are nice but EA's proven time and again that keeping to deadlines can often result in buggy, glitched games. Let them take the time they need, I'd rather that than the alternative.

As for what I'll be doing till then... same as I've been doing for 3 years, enjoying the game I love.

First of all, I have never seen any word from SE that April was the release date, so I'm assuming OP just made that up to try and make a point.

Second, I have plenty to do in game until June. Working on my third relic now, working on FCOB with my static, just got into crafting a bit (lvl 41 weaver) and I wanna try and level at least one or two more crafting jobs. Gearing out all my jobs (still have BRD, NIN to gear) as well as finish leveling DRG to 50 and gear that job as well. I am working on getting the points to buy the Bunny gear for glamours.

    "It's sooner than you think"
I remember it was mentioned by Producer Yoshida.

Patches are released every 3 months. Patch 2.5 is released on January. Late April seems right for the next update. But it is pushed to June, leaving a gap in-between.

I am not against that they need more time to fine tune the expansion. I am just concern on what to do during the "break".

Most of the player base is not at the point where they have nothing to do. Anybody who does only one aspect of content, will likely have completed that one aspect. For those of us "Doing it all" I for one, welcome a couple months before going insane. the sad part really is the level cap. That's going to make so much work for us crafters! and all of our gear is going to be obsolete. They are going back to class-specific gear . . which . . I mean . . . QQ !!!!

So Much gear we'll need to get!!! WAAAAAAHHHHH

Yeah this sounds perfect for me to start playing again and get all caught up. Do the higher lvl coils have the buffs that make it easier again like last time?

Final Coil does not have echo in it yet, nor is it in duty finder.

I imagine that will come with the next patch.

Enjoy clearing all content in 2-3 weeks. That's how long 6.0 lasted for me. WoWs fun days are many years in the past.

WoW has little endgame content. Basically only raiding (a single raid dungeon) and arena (PvP). No such thing as World pvp in WoW. Soloing old content isnt endgame, tho.
I can understand if people would prefer to enjoy another game when they are (currently) bored with FFXIV. However WoW? Worst MMO to spend your time on, imo.

That said, as someone with less hours /played then the average person, I still have a lot to do before 3.0 hits. I don't mind it hitting in june as such.
