I'm going to go totally sideways and take a huge leap saying that the new relic in 3.0 will be armor not a weapon. Reading the reddit interview with Yoshi when asked about the new armor sets he immediately compares it to the zodiac. If the new relic doesn't fill a new category it almost has to be either redundant with the zodiac weapon or to absorb it. Another large leap but I believe when talking about doing things with the zodiac he has consistently referenced 3.1. It might just be me but if a new relic was started in 3.0 then we convert zeta relics into it in 3.1... I see a lot of people (and I would be one of them) getting very mad if I had been working on the 3.0 relic.

I really wish that they would release some official information regarding this. I refuse to start anymore zodiac weapons until we know what's going to happen with them in 3.0. No way I'm spending all that time and gil for something that will be easy to obtain in 3 months.

We are in comlete agreement. Also, I've havnt pre-order Heavensword yet becasue I'm waiting untill I hear more Info about how relics will be handled.

FWIW, I'm all in favor of "extreme casual" gear, alongside the current rellic line.

The 110 weapons for sale in MD were a good example of this (up until the rellic got boosted to 125+).

A vague and slippery comment. From what I understand they will stop developing the Zodiac and we will have a new quest starting from, I don't know, ilvl 130 or so. I don't like it.

I hope they keep the Zodiac questline, but they certainly need to nerf the first steps so new players can catch up with the expansion content.

I'd be fine if they went the FFXI route of having multiple relic-type weapons for each class. As in they would introduce new relics in 3.0, but still support the originals with more upgrades. They also wouldn't need to create zodiacs for the new jobs and just let them work on the new relics.

It adds a little variety and flavor lore-wise, without invalidating the work people put into Zodiacs.

i doubt zodiac will continue or be needed at all. the current quest even SAYS relic weapon COMPLETE. what yoschi meant probaly was that the zodiac quest will REMAIN in the game for those who wish to do it. they wont further upgrade zodiac nor require it. i would never turn my zeta into a catalyst i did rather do the new quest and keep the glamor option for me.

it will be a new relic quest for the entire 3.0 series which starts with heavensward and gets its first upgrade with 3.1 patch later. just like relic on 2.0 got zenith with 2.1
