Why does the PLD soulstone give a massive INT boost?

So I was checking out the stat boosts granted by all the soulstones and when I got to PLD I was quite surprised at the stat boosts.

PLD soulstone gives 11 STR sure, 10 DEX ok, 20 VIT obviously, 20 INT... Wait WHAT?!

Why on earth is one of the highest stats from the PLD soulstone INT?! We get no attack magic and my tests revealed no effect on any abilities or weaponskills.

So what's is the purpose of this? Is there something I missed? Is this stat just so we can make more witty provokes? Or perhaps it is hinting at the addition of banish in the future?

Though I wonder if Flash is considered "attack" magic. No actual damage done by it but it does have a status buff of blind. Maybe INT effects its potency. Its not healing magic which is effected by Mind. Which MND may have been a better option as we can cure, albeit weakly but it has saved me and others in the past.

Hmm, maybe its foresight for the upcoming expansion. Or an ability that never made it to the class and they never changed the attribute. An ability to be added for the level 60 increase. I don't know. It does seem like a waste as we have no attack magic and no use for it. Maybe it was supposed to be MND and no one noticed until now.

This must be why so many Warriors are slowly becoming nothing more than brutes who care about "Axe Smash!!!" instead of "I have axe. You hit me, not squishies!" XD

On topic though... did Paladins or Warriors have any skills in 1.0 that keyed off of INT for damage/effectiveness? SirTaint is probably on the money when he theorizes "old carry over". After all, when so much was broken there simply wasn't time to "fix" anything that wasn't

Its probably just an oversight or an old carry over.

The stats in this game are so boring, they probably had a more complex system at first and then dumbed it all down.
