No. Housing for the rich only.
There's an issue with supply sure, but if you can't afford a Small plot, you can't furnish the damn place... I'd honestly rather have an unowned plot, than have a plot owned by someone who cannot afford to furnish the place...

Free Company private rooms are basically poor people housing. As I've rarely broken a million gil my chances of owning a house at the moment are really slim. What if you bought the house on a kind of credit system, you pay a deposit which allows you to put downa few furniture items and the more you pay off the more items you are allowed to place. Eventually once you've paid off your house you could move up a tier and upgrade and start again.

So he's prioritizing life outside of the game over earning enough money to buy an in-game house? Cool, great decision! He must feel good about that. Oh wait, no, here he is complaining.
Anyway, yeah, free company rooms are cheap enough for anyone.

And those people are exactly the sort who can spend an hour crafting junk and tossing it on the market boards, going off to work or do whatever for 8-12 hours, and come back to a pile of money from sold goods. If you've taken the time to level a crafting job to 50, you should be able to take advantage of it and make money on a regular basis.

If your having trouble making money - make those glamour things. My friend is a goldsmith and just chucks up those level 1 glamours and makes millions easy. People are fashionable in Hyperion...

I live under the Gridania aetheryte. It's nice, cozy plus you have a mb and hair stylist nearby!

It shouldn't be too difficult to make enough for a small housing by now, back in 2.1 things weren't so profitable to get enough for a house. Since you have goldsmith, you can make accessories cheaply and spiritbond them for a chance of red tier IV materia which could easily net you several hundred thousands each. This is the best way to earn gil if you can't find something else lower that you can get a lot money out off. Anyway good luck with your quest to get your personal house in game.
That's what private rooms are for.
