Actually, that excerpt just confirms what I believed would be the case. Yes, the jobs have no base class of their own, instead they are working off the base class of the main unlock job. This means they are STILL based on a class, just not directly based on a class. This will not be the revolution that everyone wanted televised.

Looks to me simply the FFXI way:

Get first one job to lvl30 > get and do quest for the job u want next > get job > level it starting from lvl1

Don't think you quite grasp how it works here. The new Jobs are still Jobs as they work in the game. Just that they don't have a base class, seems they are 'borrowing' the class of one of the unlock Jobs. Jobs, themselves, are just equips. The Jobs in Heavensward are just more extensive than the present Jobs, bringing with them their own weapon types.

    How comes you think so?

I showed the way it probably will work in 3.0.
Just coz i call a class a job doesn't mean i'm new here.

Learning new jobs at lvl 30 makes perfect sense, since 30 is the class level where you normally learn a job. Just like rogue needing you to complete lvl 10 staring class quest to unlock it.

I think starting at level 1 is still the best choice because you get to focus on each ability as you get it, testing it and combining it with your current abilities through combat before you get the next ability to test with. But if it can't start at level 1, then level 15 would be a good second place. The three starter dungeons are there to train people in how to use their abilities without too much challenge to get in the way of figuring out how to work with other people. You don't want people, even experienced players, with a brand new job entering Haukke Manor and Brayflox without having some understanding of their abilities and how they work in party play.

I'll never understand the lack of quests complaint either... You have Levequests. Use them. Between FATEs, Dungeons and Levequests, I found leveling Ninja anything but monotonous. If I'm going to start these new Jobs with them already half way to the cap, then that's just going to mean I end up enjoying them less... At least leveling them means I can play them. I'm certainly not going to be able to play all three once they're capped.
I agree with this. I love leveling and leveling all 3 jobs from level 1 was something I was looking forward to

Me too for the reasons you said. Past level 50 all it's left to do is spam raids/dungeons for gear.

I don't like that. If they're going to keep based class system then make new jobs based on classes. If they're going to have new jobs without their based class then remove those old classes too.

The old jobs begin at level 30, because the class is lv 30 and the old jobs don't have a level after all.
As an example, you unlock at Arcanist lv30 Scholar and Summoner. Both are now lv 30. You level up Scholar to 50 and switch then to Summoner. Your Summoner will be not lv 30, but 50. Because you leveled up Arcanist while playing Scholar and Summoner get the level from Arcanist.

What is now sure: You need a class at level 30 to unlock the new jobs
what is still unsure: what level the job will have when you switch to it the first time (because unlike the old jobs, the new jobs will have a own level)
