Heavensward - Ishgards influence on the new AF sets

It really seems to me... that these outfits really represent the importance of the job to Ishgard.

Clearly Dragoon is the most advanced and as such is the most important combat unit - they look like they get more priority, funding and training.

The Paladins come next, they seem to be about pride and order much like the sultanate and are a long standing unit, as you would expect they will be tied to the Church.

The White mages - seem like they never ask for anything lavish and have stuck to a chaste (traditional?) garb, but they have received funding and furnishing as they are the healers and as such deserve a position above others functionally and culturally - even if the white mages themselves disagree.

The rest of them look like they are 'outsider' jobs.

It's clear the military might is a grand focus on the area and as such perhaps these combat professions were given a place and funding to function in the war but were not monitored as heavily as the 'Culturally traditional' jobs and as such have been able to be more free with their design and function.

    Just a few thoughts ^-^

Hard to say, even Estinien, the previous Azure Dragoon, wasn't wearing something as elaborate the Heavensward artifact armor.

I think that the armor set belongs to higher ranking, or the highest ranked dragoons. There may be additional history or lore behind the armor set as well (it may not actually be part of the Ishgardian armory).

The rest of the sets may belong to their stories and origins. Remember, the dragoon is the only job that originated from Ishgard. Every other job's origins come from other parts of Eorzea and from different time periods.

Yeah blm pld and whm have a middle ages european style which kinda mixes well with the ishgardian theme, drg is clearly simbolic to the ishgardians, the rest seem foreign to me (mnk looked like chinese kung fu garbs like fu from ff 4)

The PLD armour looks a lot like the armor Lucia (I think that was her name, the garlean Ishgard lady) wears, but I'm not sure if it's a recoloured version or merely based on it.

They went with a design close to The Mask from Dimensions ( Or Magus in other FFs) I guess, the original is better though imho.

The new SMN AF seems to be taking a lot of inspiration from Rydia's outfit in FFIV. Personally I think it's the most spectacular of the lot. How their appearance ties into their role within Ishgardian society though... I find that a bit of a stretch. Other than DRG none of the jobs are really associated with Ishgard. If anything the new AF sets are going to be tied to the new job quests and stories.

Personally I think the Scholar outfit had a lot of ishgardian influence, it seems like a very "noble" themed outfit, and seeing as Ishgard is made up of different tiers etc, thought it was a pretty close reflection of that.

    *shrugs*

FYI - Im not keen on the Scholar AF ¬_¬

Maybe its me but it looks like the Drg gear changed from the initial teaser to the in-game look.

My guess is that there is an AF2 and an AF2+1, the one you see in the teaser has the blue color of the AF+1 and this one have the black color of the AF. But I can be wrong.
