PCs/NPCs Disappearing

Greetings!

I'm having an issue with character models disappearing (both PCs and NPCs) for a time from my screen, sometimes even my own. It will happen randomly and is not associated with my graphics level (I turned everything down to Low and it still happens). I usually have to let it fix itself but it's really annoying when I can't target a monster as a tank, and it's very difficult to target NPCs when I can't see them!

I've already tried updating my graphics drivers and it hasn't helped. I've talked to a few people that have the same issue and they have no idea what to do. Is this server lag or something? Thanks for your help!

You will probably have to reinstall the game. I had this as well. People with certain equipment completely vanished and became untargetable (not even when in party). For me this was due to some files not updating properly (they were write-protected while updating for some unknown reason).

Does that mean I should also re-download the update files? I kept all of the update files on my backup hard drive in case I had to reinstall.

Edit: It's not like they are invisible forever. It just happens for a short period of time where EVERYONE on the screen will disappear. I can still see effects like crafting and spells being cast, just all the character models and names are gone from the screen.

Hmm that sounds a bit different than my case. Did you try the usual stuff yet? Like moving the ffxiv folder in my documents/my games to desktop.
