I don't understand how people say it's inhibiting their gameplay or making the game "unplayable". It's a minor annoyance at best. Maybe it's just the server I'm on? (excalibur).

is pretty bad. i see more and more people playing with busy status set. even a few people in my friends list have started to play with it on. i see players with busy status left and right on Exodus. is even becoming more common to see on other players in an instance too. all-in-all, not a good state for an MMO to be in.

Guys, guys, these aren't RMT tells. These are actually tells from an eldritch abomination named R'mtgldsf who is trying to corrupt you into joining his cult. SE has enlisted us to fight him, and every time we blacklist one of his corporeal forms, we are doing a small part to banish him from Eorzea. Keep up the good fight, lest we be swallowed by his maddening darkness.

Square-Enix needs to set-up a task force of people in each server with idle 50s online. Once those characters get a tell, trace it, send them to the in-game jail and later ban the account. Immediate action and resolution. No investigation needed as the proof is on the GM's screen.

It would be useful if blacklisting also blacklisted every character associated with that account.

Yes it would. The problem is that many of these RMT sites are based in countries where the law just doesn't give a damn. In fact, some are probably government supported. A form of corporate sabotage with a little money made on the side.

Actually if you see the forums the RMT people frequent ( yes they have their own forums ) most are 15 - 24 year old American or EU males.

Its as if people don;t realize that SE is on top of it as much as they can be. Seems that every week or 2 they are perma banning thousands of accounts for RMT or botting and no one seems to notice on the forums.

I think SE is trying to deal with this but it really is a cold war. They will counter one thing and the RMT sellers will come up with something else. It doesn't help that a lot of whispers come from stolen accounts, many of which would be more secure if they had the secondary one time passwords. Shut down one and they will just switch to another stolen account or go fishing for more.

What I find very interesting is they are almost non existent on the Japanese server I play on. I wonder if that is due to simply there being no real market on those servers. After all the RMT sellers wouldn't be bothering trying to sell if people weren't buying.

to me it seems like SE is just leeching as much as they can from the bots before punishment. them taking action only once every-so-often isn't very effective. it is SO in-effective that yes... it is easy to NOT notice what they are doing, because it is as if they do nothing at all. SE's actions are taken too infrequently and too late.


i know it costs money to make special teams, but... they really need one. almost every MMO out there has a special team for this sort of thing. even F2P games.
