I would seriously question a decision to put non tanking stats on tank gear ie Int or Pie. Giving DRK its own gear set would be pretty dumb, from a loot standpoint.
That being said Yoshi did mention a redesign of loot drops from coil. I have a strong suspicion that they are moving towards a token drop system like in WoW. (refering to high lvl gear drops) By adding 3 additional classes, they will be randomzing useable drops in a raid way too much.

But since they have already stated that the gear system is changing, there are no rules as to what kind of stats we could see on DRK armor.
My guess is DRK will sacrifice health or defense to gain back MP, or to use powerful attacks. He can probably also use MP to cast defensive spells. So if you go all out on Attack spells you won't survive, ect you get the point.

Yeah I see PIE builds being the new Parry builds. Somebody will swear by them just because. PLD/WAR/DRK will use the same gear whether its Alexander drops or the next CT series.

There are many options apart from tokens. The system of antique gear in some dungeons that can be rolled by all classes and then exchanged for gear of the class you like is other option, but it might make too easy to get the gear, since always somebody will get a piece of gear. And everybody would roll (except loot agreements) since you can exchange it for any class.

About shared gears, I like them a lot, you level a job like WAR and you have all the PLD shared gear already if PLD is your main. The same for SCH and WHM, ACN and BLM, NIN and MNK.

Ninja and mink technically only share gear 1-50 and only ilvl 110 and below gear. Ironworks and above they have separate sets.

They also share level 50 right side gear with bard, not monk.
