...yay, more churchy stuff. WHMs look like the nuns from Dragon Age.

The hood is not the problem. It's just more of the same virginal/prude/modest/innocent gear that we get every time. WHM ain't saints, why do they always dress them as such. There are so few outfits that dare to steer from that theme (and slightly at that). We can never be scary, spunky, adventurous, trouble makers... we're nuns, always.

While you are technically correct in the lore sense, modern WHM in Eorzea has a very much saint-like nuisance to it. After white magic was misused and caused widespread disaster, it was once buried away as a forbidden power, only to be later revived by the Padjals and passed down in secret as the power used to guard over the forests. So modern WHM do indeed convey the image of protectors, holy, sacred.
I'd like to see some more variation that perhaps involve a more adventurous image, but I don't think they're entirely off the mark with the current designs.
“There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self.”
― Ernest Hemingway

I don't know, I think white mages (or rather, Padjal) in their current incarnation can still be quite scary when you think about them - we do kill a lot of stuff in our class/job quests and the protection of the Shroud over anything else has some pretty scary consequences. No one really likes Padjals, or at least that's the impression I got. There's a dark side to the role that is never reflected in our gear and it's a shame. Not a lot of balance for a class who is all about it :/While you are technically correct in the lore sense, modern WHM in Eorzea has a very much saint-like nuisance to it. Love the summoner and monk gear. Not crazy about white mage gear, but did you see the weapon? It looks cool. I also like the summoner book a lot.
Wish they'd have shown the Ninja AF2 on something that isn't a Lalafell, or at the very least in a bright area (that applies to all armour sets that are in a darker area). But nonetheless, it looks nice.
I wish they'd shown it on a female model, so I can know if they plan to ruin it on female models again. Love how low-key the armor is though, so glad they didn't go for the usual "ARMOR HAS TO BE FLASHY! EVEN ON STEALTH CLASSES!" route so many fall into.
Those blades are absolutely amazing too. Cannot wait for them.
