I probably speak for many people when I say that I had very mixed feelings upon hearing the announcement that the expansion will be pushed back to late June from its original estimated release date of late April. It is a good thing, of course, that there will be more time for development, meaning less glitches/bugs, more fully realized content, a better finished product, etc. which will ultimately lead to a more satisfied community (note: Master Chief Collection and Destiny). The downside however is that now instead of waiting 4-5 weeks after 2.5 part II , we now see ourselves waiting 12-13 weeks for new content of ANY kind, not to mention that to our knowledge, the only thing to be released in 2.5 part II is story quests.

Is there any plan to release anything extra preemptive to the expansion such as Savage Primals/First Coil? Obviously the expansion will and should take top priority, but I foresee many subscriptions lapsing as a result of this stagnation.

Maybe a .8 patch to unlock final coil and remove poetic caps. That'd hold me off for a while...

I mean, I have heard of similar issues with other games (note: WoW), of course, but I can't help imagine that many (many many MANY) people will grow bored of having virtually nothing to do in the game.

For instance, by that time, there will be almost no use for tomestones of poetics, as there is already hardly any use for tomestones of soldiery. I for one already have every single piece of poetics that I desire on two separate classes including two weapons. Most players already have either all classes fully leveled or have no interest in doing so, leaving them nothing of significance to do outside of the Gold Saucer, the novelty of which has already mostly worn off.

edit: I imagine unlocking final coil might help but by that time a great deal of players will already be finished with it if there are no incentives to repeat it.

I was against this at first but now that Heavensward is gona be with a June instrd of a spring release ya they should do this. At lest a month before the release.

Did they really say that the expansion will come out in April or is it just the speculation? I thought they said that it will come out in Spring or something?

That was their projected timeline as of like 6 months ago, yes. Something along the lines of roughly 1 month after 2.5 part II is released, the expansion will be released. But obviously, that matters little at this point. Like I said in the OP, waiting longer is ultimately a blessing in disguise, my concern is just the lack of content until that time.

I don't think we can or should expect new content be it primals or coil. Spring 2015 is a pretty wide range. They are 3 days late technically speaking.

I wonder where the "original estimated date" came from. Was it your hypothesis or did I miss something? You also seem to know loads of people will stop playing based on WoW's over a year content drougth. Time will tell.

People have patience. It also does not hurt to take a break and wait for 3.0. If there is not enough incentive for you to play at this point, why play? It seems like you agree with the reason they gave why they chose June 23rd. That should be enough reason to wait or come back for 3.0.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, I'm genuinely concerned. Patience is one thing, but paying for three months of subscription just to afk and do some relatively meaningless weeklies is another. I'm not saying they should be required to hurl content at us right up until the expansion, but I fear that many things could go awry in this downtime.

Most of the player base is not at the point where they have nothing to do. Anybody who does only one aspect of content, will likely have completed that one aspect. For those of us "Doing it all" I for one, welcome a couple months before going insane. the sad part really is the level cap. That's going to make so much work for us crafters! and all of our gear is going to be obsolete. They are going back to class-specific gear . . which . . I mean . . . QQ !!!!

So Much gear we'll need to get!!! WAAAAAAHHHHH
