I didn't say the World would come crashing down because of it.. But I do rather enjoy the convenience in being able to AND knowing, that I can indeed craft whatever I wish to or need. That's one of the biggest reasons I pushed crafting this far in this game.

As someone who plays the game almost exclusively as a crafter, that means a great deal to me.
If you like to take the more casual approach to crafting, more power to ya, but that's not how I play the game.

I am not whining, in fact, I already know what I'm going to do to circumvent the limitations of "specialization". I already have 3 characters with crafting due to the desynthesis limit. They're not fully leveled up but if anybody has the resources and time to do it, a full time crafter such as myself would since I have a lot more time to focus on it rather than having to worry about raids, relic grind, loots, or whatever. I can already make my own leve turn-ins and have most of the mats stockpiled.

So now I ask you this, if the specialization is introduced, do you think I will suffer more or less than the casual crafters?

Also, it sounds like the specialization may be offered as a means to offer near BiS gear to crafters so we can make more useful combat gears and specialization is to restrict one person to access all of the gear at once..
That's taken from "It's probably terrible balance-wise to have dungeon drops always be the strongest so we're trying to change that." on the reddit post.

Do you really want people like me, who does nothing but craft most of the time to have a full set of BiS combat gear couple weeks after the expansion hits?

The only thing that the specialization limit will do is to make the pool of end-game crafters even smaller than it currently is.
Look at the prices of stuff on MB already, look at the wealth disparity between crafters vs. non-crafters.

On Jenova, there's a cohort of end-game crafters that work together to set the prices on MB. It's working to a degree but not too well because there are numerous crafters on the fringe and they simply can't get everyone in on it, the pie's not big enough. This is only possible because any crafter can jump in without having to be a specialist. i.e. if the group I was talking about decided to set their artisan off hand tools to a price of 7m. (It's already 4-5m which to me, is outrageous with 2m mat cost) I have enough of an incentive to jump in and compete for the profit which drives the prices down. If there's a specialist system in place, I wouldn't be able to unless I was of the correct class.

In fact, that's kind of already what's happened with Alchemist and Culinarian 4 star recipes.
Because most crafters don't decide to get their lucis with ALC or CUL, prices on those items are a lot higher. It will, however; be fixed by the players if the prices are TOO high, then more people will jump in the market to have a share of the profit.

P.S. I am not disagreeing with SE's design philosophy.. They talk about needing to have more casual approach to crafting so more people jump in the crafting scene. I am all for the idea, I think that's the only way that we'll get to see more reasonable prices on the MB, but introducing a "specialist" system will only do the opposite and create an environment where a casual crafter simply will not be able to compete in.
