Hmmm. so guessing any +1 gear I have will become NQ?
Damn, and I paid 2 mil for my +1 vintage haub >_<
Looks like I'll be selling it quickly. It's only worth about 400k now in anyway =/
His point is to reduce inventory slot, so I don't see any profit from changing +1 +2 +3 from actual gear (when 1 item = 1 slot regardless), just materials being NQ,HQ is enough.

Agreed. And as much as it might seem a bit unfair, at least they're giving us a good deal of time to react to this system change. Whether that be selling your +1 items to replace with +3's/NQ, or hoarding away all HQ mats for new system.Well, as it stands, yes. The current thinking is to have the +2 items become HQ. But he also said they'll be reviewing the logs to see how many +2 items are in circulation. I'd imagine if there are too many of a certain item, they'll downgrade them to NQ to keep the HQ items rare. I'm hoping they do this on a case-by-case basis, seeing as how the amount of +2s can wildly fluctuate between different items.
Considering the example they gave of the cobalt armor, as well as the wording of his posts, the changes will be for all items.
I agree, it's not very fair at all. But we agreed to let them make radical changes, and with a change like this that I believe will be a good decision in the long run, we have to suffer the consequences. Considering there are probably less than 20,000 active players, this is a fairly small price to pay in the grand scheme of things for the game.
We knew changes were bound to come, lets be thankful we have been informed now rather than the week of the update.
They're optimizing this game for ps3 as well currently. By taking out HQ +1/2 they're reducing 2 spaces on every item that is possible to HQ. When you consider how much gear/weapon/materials are in the game currently, this quickly reduces the absurd amount of items obtainable. It's very similar how they're condensing synthesis and dyeing process.
