Naria and Niwashi fail to mention that items are made for SPECIFIC JOBS/CLASSES. Archer/Bard and Rogue/Ninja can need on most things that have Dexterity, while Pugilist/Monk and Lancer/Dragoon can need on Strength(with their own variations, usually Striking(PUG/MNK) or Maiming(LNC/DRG)), Thaumaturge/Black Mage and Arcanist/Summoner can need on Intelligence items, Conjurer/White Mage and Scholar can need on Mind, while Gladiator/Paladin and Marauder/Warrior on Vitality/Parry. Additionally, all classes/jobs can have specific weapons for them they can need on. GLA/PLD get swords and most shields(VIT/Parry), CNJ/WHM get wands and some staves and some shields(MND), THM/BLM on rods and some staves and some shields(INT), ACN/SMN/SCH get books(SCH get the Mind books while ACN/SMN INT), ARC/BRD bows, ROG/NIN knives/daggers, PUG/MNK fists/claws/etc, LNC/DRG spears, MRD/ axes.

NIN/MNK also shares Crystal Tower 1 & 2 gear, aka Labyrinth of the Ancients and Syrcus Tower, and maybe BCoB/SCoB gear.

Niwashi hit it right on the head, you should really read it. By stating "currently designed for your class" it covers all gear, and not all monk is striking, not all drg is maiming. And, parry, as a secondary stat is not determinant of whether or not it goes to a tank, but that it has vit. You provided specific examples, yes, but your claim that something was left out is false. Barr/nin might be able to roll need on dex? They will always be able to, but dex is also the only thing they can roll need on. Same with mnk/drg in regards to strength. Your explanation needs a little reword in as well.
