Hey quick question. Just picked up my animus and I'm progressing with the scrolls now but I'm wondering what grade and what materia would be best for me? Was thinking piety, det and spell speed. Do I use all grade IV or not? Thanks.

The way the Animus > Novus step works is that you must use Materia of different grades to progress, starting with Grade 1 Materia and ending with Grade 4. Each Materia added is equal to one point of your chosen stat, regardless of its Grade. So, to meld Piety onto your Thyrus will first require you to use 8 Piety I, then 8 Piety II, following with another 8 Piety III and eventually 9 Piety IV to maximize the available Piety on your relic. You can't skip ahead to a certain Grade of Materia at will; each tier must be 'finished' before moving onto the next tier, so to speak.
Piety, Determination and Spell Speed seems like a fair enough stat spread. That said, you're going to need to religiously spiritbond or spend a fair amount of money if you wish to max all those (33, 31 and 11, respectively). It's up to you whether you consider maxing the stats worth it. Don't know about Cerberus prices, but Determination IV are well above half a million each on Phoenix.![]()
Yeah same with the det here :P what stat allocation would you reccommend?

I'd personally maximize Piety at the very least; all the other secondary stats are, quite frankly, personal preference. Most would argue that a White Mage should get either Determination or Spell Speed, but no secondary stat stacking will measure up against skillful playing on your part.
I went with max Piety, Determination and 11 points of Accuracy (for the odd moment that I DPS on later Primals and Coil. It also looks cleaner on the item tooltip).
