As far as I can tell the only thing that physical level actually affects is when and how many bonus attribute points you get for your character's stats. And IF character stat allotment is going to go away (like many players want it to), what purpose would physical level serve at that point?
I agree with you. Many people do want to get rid of the physical system. I get what they tried to do with by giving you the option to put your stat points where you want to but in a game where you can change jobs on the fly and having each job needing it's own specific points it just doesn't fit well. Also you add the fact that you can only reallocate a certain number of points at one time makes it even worst when changing jobs.

They could let you reallocate all the points whenever changing class... maybe add some kind of restriction too to make sure it is not abused. Like the first time you reallocate for a job it will cost you a certain amount of Gil... then 2nd time the amount doubles and so on.... or have a cooldown or something like it has now but longer as it will let you reallocate all the points.

This could make physical levels better but not that much more useful.... you could have per class stat points allocation and that would eliminate the need for physical levels.
