Regardless of how one feels about paying for a clear, it seems like a waste of gil unless you actually have plans to do FCOB after. I imagine that a lot of people who feel unable to clear T9 with their own parties pay to get it out of the way and then find themselves stuck on T10 due to the same issue (no static party).
