Why can't PS4 users turn down and Limit NPC's and PC's like on PC?

The game runs pretty well on PS4 but in any area with a lot of people it lags like hell, and id on't understand why? they said they made game to show as many people as possible but is freaking 10 FPS in a city/Hub worth this? not even my PC with a 4.2 ghz i5 and gtx 970 can handle this with more than 40 fps on Normal, so why can't the PS4 have the option to turn down the amount of npcs we see? it would make our FPS go from 10 to 60 or higher just like on PC...

I would think that it is your connection not the PS4. I play on PS4 and I've never lagged in an area with lots of players, or struggled with performance issues in crowded cities, gold saucer, etc. I can have tons of characters on my screen at once with no problem.

It probably goes against (Sony's) PS4 development rules to have performance sliders.

Golden Saucer day 1 was pretty rough, and S-rank marks can get dreadful if you dont turn off effects for non-party players.

Other than that, PS4 is fine. At least coming from PS3, where no single area got past 30 FPS, and seemed to struggle to stay above mid 20s.

I never had issues with my PS4. I just turn down the effects from other players.
Like others have stated, it might be your connection.

    Hmm.. i play on:
    Core2Duo E6550 oc to 2,8
    4gb DDR2 800mhz
    9600 GT 1GB GDD3 with 700mhz on core and 2000mhz on memory
Shit pc but in mor-dhona or gold saucer in peak hours i got around 15fps......i think earlier that PS4 got more horse power and even consider to buy PS4 to play FFXIV rather than upgrading PC but now idk :/

I imagine even a top of the line PC sees a FPS hit in crowded areas with all NPCs and PCs being displayed. The option to limit this should be included in the PS4 version. I'm pretty sure the PS3 version has the limit without an option to disable it since doing so would kill the system. lol

We do see a drop but our fps range is far higher. In dungeons 190+ FPS, map 80-170 FPS and in cities 40-70 FPS.

Till DX12 comes, it will helps on crowded cities to handle drawcalls better.

I play on PS4 mostly but also on PC. I think there are two graphical modes for FFXIV on the PS4, but I always run it at "full hd" or whatever the best setting is, but limiting spell effects for people not in my party, mainly for better visibility. Slows down slightly in Revenant's Toll and maybe for S-rank/Odin with tons of people, but neither one has interfered with game play. A huge fat chocobo vs. magitek armor battle in Revenant's Toll was rendered just fine, and I turned on effects for that because it looked awesome. Gold Saucer on patch day was probably the most noticeable slowdown, but it wasn't terrible. One thing I did notice is that load time is definitely faster if you install an SSD in your PS4, and this also seems to help on PC.

That being said, having more graphics settings on the PS4 would probably be OK for me, as I would set them once and then mostly forget about them.

Going back to PS3 was bizarre because now the PS3 version seems to limit the number of characters on screen, making RT look like a ghost town except for your immediate vicinity... I swear it was not always that way but was added in a patch at some point. But I do remember some slow loading issues on PS3 where it would take a long time for a FATE group to display, and the boss might not even appear on your screen before the end of the FATE... teleports and zone loads were also pretty slow off the hard drive...
