Why I dont like the rock music for Shiva

It literally comes out of nowhere. Now you may say "but Titan has rock and everyone loves it." Heres the thing about Titan. Even before the match starts, theres a guitar rift and the theme gradually builds up. So when the rock does start playing its not entirely out of nowhere. His theme also fits with the fight itself, things falling and exploding, Titan trying to send you plummeting off the arena, its chaos and the rock adds to it.

Literally out of nowhere. Then comes Shiva. With a beautiful orchestrated theme that fits her character thats both elegant and gives a sense of her strength and then.... rock music. The song doesnt do her justice at all. It sounds too much like a montage song. I expect Shiva to make a montage of her working out to be a boxer or something. Now look at Garuda's theme. It fits her. It starts of with similar vibe as Shiva but it is done so much better and it starts soon so it doesnt feel like it was placed there as an afterthought. She also had a mix between a guitar and orchestra which is what shouldve been dont with Shiva. Also Garuda's theme is far more tragic as the lyrics fit her lore. Yes her theme has lyrics, its just hard to hear their short, but it gives a better sense of who she is. This is Garuda's lyrics Falling too far from the light, Deeper into the night, Lost here inside my own hell, I am a broken angel. Those few lines make Garuda far more interesting than any Primal in my opinion.

Soken composed two opposing themes for Shiva at the request of the battle team, to highlight her dual nature as both a person and a Primal. If you listen closely, they're actually two completely different arrangements of the same melody, so the songs are much more closely connected than you might think at first.

Also, the rock theme prompted me to break out my The World Ends With You OST again, so it's a winner in my book.

In my opinion, most of 2.0's music is boring to me. Shiva is one of the few exceptions.

All the other primal songs are annoying, ESPECIALLY Ramuh's opening part with the loud wailing. It's why the only song in Xenogears I hate is at the very end of the game at the end cutscene with Krelian. I am pretty sure it's actually the same lady.

Atleast be happy that she got two themes, ifrit got one theme and it's not as epic as the other themes. I wish SE would atleast add a rock theme to him after his first limit break.

Though they use the same basic melody on two ends of the opposite spectrum, I still believe firmly that two people had two different ideas for the song. One wanted more orchestral and one wanted rock with that singer. Instead of reaching a compromise, they got what they got and PRed the result.

Just because it has the same basic notes in it throughout doesn't mean it transitions or blends well. It's still the most disappointing music in the game for me.

This is right. It's suppose to be a juxtaposition of the themes. The duality of her own self image.

Crap, it just hit me that they do have a similar kind of sound, don't they?

It's not expected that everyone loves every boss track, I think. I know a few people who can't stand Leviathan's music, and I think a lot of people haven't paid attention to Ifrit's theme in a long time.
And believe it or not some people really disliked Titan's.

I personally loved it. Garuda was my favorite primal music before shiva. It fits the combat choreography perfectly imo. The initial slow pace of the fight wi th smooth orchestral music m culminating in an anti climax as we freeze in a frozen wonderland with ice as far as the eye can see is great. The silence and the sassy stiletto stomp and the giant walls of ice crashing down around us while the drums kick in to the more intense section of the fight. Perfect.

My favorite by a long shot, though garuda is still in my heart.

I think all the Primals have really good music, and I like how partway through on a lot of them the music gets kicked up a notch as if saying "sh*t just got real"

Both of Shiva's theme together are one of my favorite things in this game.
