RealTalk: Dagger Sizes

I've got a bone to pick with SE. Let me post a few shots of what we call "daggers."

Khanjars


Sasuke's Blades Zeta


Serpent Elite's Knives


These things are way too big, they're even as long as the Gladiator's "spatha" type sword





Here are some Daggers of the appropriate size:

Vamper's Knives


Mortal Moggle Mogknives


If you were to line these daggers up with the arm, the blades would barely go past the elbow at most.

My main point here is that I want whoever handles Square Enix's weapon designs to take a step back from his or her work and reevaluate what he or she considers a dagger, because these weapons are clearly shortswords.

I'm fine with their size but I want to see more short katanas (a little longer than daggers) like Yoshimitsu though.

I couldn't agree more, I use the batliege soto as well, there are very few ninja-esque weapons in the game, everything is a dagger it feels except relic. Really we should have very few daggers and several katanas and kunai.

What I would like to see is a true separation of daggers and katana sword. Daggers for ROG and katana swords for NIN. There should be a definitive difference.

Can we really use Zidane (or anyone from IX) to show proportion? In Dissidia, he is around Onion Knight's height, who is still a preteen.
Plus, Zidane's daggers/knifes combine to make thief-swords/double-ended swords.

Funny enough, I can't recall Zidane being all that short in relation to other NPCs in the game. Majority of the characters in FF9 were on height with him.

I think it was just an art style quip that made him seem short. I wouldn't be surprised if he was average height, really.
