1 Character all classes or multiply characters?

Hello all I took a long time to level a lot of classes on my character but I really don't like how the cap in endgame is for character and not for class..For example you cannot cap tomes for Paladin and White Mage..

This makes the process of acquiring gear and sets much slower. I am in the process of leveling another character now, simple to be able to have 2 separate lockouts/caps per week.

But before is too late , I would like to ask if anyone know, if they will change the way lockouts work in near future (expansion maybe?)..Have they said anything about it? That you will be able to cap your tomes for example in each class?

There's no point in making each class have a separate cap, to be honest that would ruin markets crafted gear and the game itself by making it pointless to run stuff for the weekly tomes after like... idk, 2 months since you would have all chars with ironworks. As a consecuence it would become boring to do most stuff (like we dont have enough topics here blaming hunts and dungeons being easy) except coil that actually requires playing skill. If you want to gear all your classes you can gear your main with the weekly tomestones gear and the rest with soldery. After that you can start building up another class.

I actually made a 2nd lvl 50 bard. Most of the reason was to accompany my friend while he levelled to 50, but I also had the idea to gear bard on that character and maybe dragoon on this character. I gave up pretty quick, needless to say...

But tbh I realized, theres so much junk ironworks equips that you wont want them all on both of your chars. I just pick up the good-BIS pieces for my alts, and combine with wod/110 crafted gears and it's more than fine for alting. I already have my alts as geared as I need to be really. Usefull when things double up too, with nin/brd sharing accs and I take nin as my alt gear in coil. Tanks/drg/mnk sharing str accs is great too.

Not to mention how infuriating raiding would be. Go coil on bard? Drg shit drops. Go on drg? Brd shit drops. Just save urself the pain ><

Well the point is that if I go as Bard and Dragoon drops, it is certain that there is a Dragoon to take that item..and if not, then I will roll it with everybody else. So I really cannot see how gearing an alt without playing him at the same moment is possible.

On the other hand, I am a bit casual myself. And as so, I don't really have a "main"...I equally play 2-3 classes and all of them are at the same gear level (which is not great). Also, ironworks gear mey not be best in slot, but I need them for some classes because of the looks

What pains me is the weekly caps/lockouts.

Multiple chars work, but only if you have 2x the time. There's no point in going through the hastle of setting up a 2nd char, repeating all old content and future content twice if you don't commit to capping it every week. If you want 2 coil jobs but don't have 2 raid groups or time to raid in 2 groups, cap tomes twice, spam wod 2x as much etc, then you won't ever see the benefit of a 2nd char. It will just be relegated to a gimpy version using basic gear you could have done on your 1st char.

It's really only if you both have the time and desire to really play multiple "main" classes. If you don't then you just waste time investing in a digital paperweight.

There are cross-class skills needed or desirable for each job, so it's better to have all the jobs on only one character than have them separated. Some gear is shared among jobs or classes too.

Isn't this also true if you play 2 class on same character? The only thing that changes (besides the leveling part that you do once) is that you have the ability if you want to cap tomes 2 times.

On my Second character I plan to level the Disciplines of Magic only. White Mage/Scholar/Black Mage...on my first character I have Paladin, Bard, Monk. Bard and White Mage are going to be my "main" characters.

Thats why I wondered if they said anything about changing how the caps/lockouts work I guess it will stay as it is.

1 character, all classes. A lot more convenient and easier to level.

If you got all the time to spare and is able to level both character with proper cross-classes and gear up both characters, I don't see why not. You will just have to do double amount of work every week to cap everything.

Lock-outs/tome caps isn't going to just magically go away anytime soon, it is there to slow down your gear progression so you don't get everything within a short period of time and end your sub.

I must be one of the odd men out.

I have my main as my battle classes(except fishing, I like fishing.)

I have an alt for gathering. And I'll be making an alt crafter out of the au ro race. Lol.
