"Impossible" Gold Saucer achievements?

Just when I thought the RNG-based reward system couldn't get any worse, I noticed this fine mess in the achievements menu:

Mountains out of Gil-hils:
Win a cumulative total of 1,000,000 MGP from the Mini Cactpot.

Work Smarter, Not Harder:
Win a cumulative total of 1,000,000 MGP from the Jumbo Cactpot.

How I learned to stop worrying and love the saucer:
Earn the seven achievements:
Winningest Jockey
Always Bet on Me
Bracket Breaker
Enemy at the GATE III
WTFungah III
Work Smarter, Not Harder
Mountains out of gil-hils

The mountains achievement will more or less require you to win the mini-cactpot jackpot 100 times. Played every day, this achievement could take 2 years if you won the mini pot once per week (unlikely), but more likely to take 5 or more years.

The work smarter achievement requires you to win the jackpot, which is a 1/9999 chance. Or second place ~7 times. Seeing as the jumbo pot only happens once a week, the odds of ever obtaining this achievement are so low you aren't likely to get this in a human lifetime.

The high roller title obtained from the love the saucer achievement requires the incredible feat of getting both of the above achievements.

its supposed to take several years, not every achievement is meant to be earned within a few days..

everyone needs a goal to aim for, that might not be yours but some other people will achieve it


I already know people who won the mini cactpot 4 times during the last week, let them win the jumbo and more mini cactpots and they'll get it

Think about how good it will feel to finally get these achievements. I think they're good the way they are.

they are supposed to take a long time to complete look at some of the previous achievments we have had for example 3500ish commendations for the chocobo

personally if everything was obtainable/achievable in a day or 2 like certains groups of ppl want i wouldnt even be subbing to this amazing game

Such bandwagon replies.
The minicactpot doesnt even have the 10k pay out on the majority of the tickets.
The jumpo cactpot does not require years to obtain. It requires RNG. Meaning that indeed, only few players will ever see it.
Seems odd to have the meta achievement require one achievement that's impossible to obtain for nearly everyone.

Am I missing something here? It says cumulative total of MGP earned. It says nothing about winning. You don't 'win' the mini cactpot, and you don't have to win the jumbo cactpot. For the mini cactpot, any amount you get counts toward the achievement, whether you get less than 100 MGP, or 10,000 MGP. It all goes towards that achievement. For the jumbo cactpot one, any amount you get counts towards the total. You don't have to get 1st. Even the consolation prize counts towards it.

It takes an expected almost three years to get the achievement for the mini cactpot. It could take longer.

For the jumbo cactpot, it takes an expected 191 years to win. Again, it could take longer. That it's cumulative doesn't help much. Even if you won 2nd prize 10 times, it's going to take you the same amount of time, because the prize is 1/10th that of 1st, with 10x the chance to win it.

These are achievement that most players will never see, especially the jumbo cactpot.

Yeah, I know that. I see what the OP meant now. I thought OP was implying the achievement was for winning for the cumulative MGP to count, but she was referring to the highest payout amount for the example of how much time it would take if you were winning highest amount.
