Sightseeing Log - Location glitch?

I have Googled to no avail, as I only get links to guides but nothing of discussion by players on this. I also asked FC mates, asked in zone shout and asked in linkshells - no one I can track down in game at all even works on this log (in fact no one in my FC besides me even knew it existed!)

So HOPEFULLY I can find an answer here . . . Sightseeing log - Entry: "The Salt Strand". I go to the location during the time, which is supposed to be between 6 pm and 5 am Eorzea time. The weather is supposed to be either clear or fair. The emote is supposed to be /lookout.

I checked multiple guides, all with screenshots and even a YouTube video showing the precise spot of where to stand for the trigger. However, even under the listed ideal conditions, I do not get any message in my chat log about "You have arrived at a Vista", and I do not get credit when doing the emote at the spot where all the videos/screenshots say to do so (on the lower part of the rock west of the lighthouse).

Since I cannot find any forum posts regarding this, I can only assess that there is something I am missing, and that this is NOT a bug, which is why this goes in General Discussion and not Bug Reports.

So to those of you who have, in the past week, successfully done this, what the hell am I missing???

Oh boy, it's been months since I've done it... Umm.. have you done the first 20 entries? The others will not be unlocked until you do those first and talk to the NPC.

The servers are down but i can take a screenshot when they come back up, but I have placed my character precisely as seen in this screenshot seen on another guide I also use:

I also use http://vistas.explorexiv.com/ - actually that is my main source of information as I have it on another monitor as I search for the locations.

Umm.. the link you gave says it's from 6pm to 1am, while you said between 6pm and 5am. Are you sure you didn't try only between that mistaken 1am-5am span?

It was a typo on my part, but the time I always try is actually at 6 pm. I get there a little early, hope the weather matches, then at 6:01 pm Eorzean time I try.

Here is the thing, though - on all other locations, even if the time and weather do NOT match, you will still at least get a chat message that says "You have located a vista" or something to that effect. That way you at least know you have found the spot and just have to wait for the conditions to match. At this location, even moving my character all over that rock, I do not get any such message.

I just went and activated the quest with an alt to verify, but the spot seems to be working with me. Though the screenshot on the site probably is enough of a clue to find the right spot, I made some with mini-map visible as well as other sides of the place. If you found the exact spot, then it has to be a bug.

Since Bluevann confirmed the spot itself isn't bugged..
The only time I recall a vista not announcing itself is if you've already completed it.

I feel like a complete idiot. I kept looking in my log and thinking I was on 006 . . . I am on 007. I completed it indeed ~eyeroll~

See, I'm glad I didn't post this in bugs. And i am going to pretend I didn;t spend 2 hours trying to get something I already somehow completed O.o I think somehow during my attempts I missed the completion notification.
